Wildlife Management
Edge Hill University embrace the wildlife on campus with population management essential for invasive species to protect the native species.
Management will include discouraging the Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) that involves oiling the eggs.
- Replacing the eggs with dummy eggs would mean having to destroy the eggs. The geese may not accept the dummy eggs which would then cause them to lay another clutch.
- The eggs do not get destroyed by any representative of EHU. Eggs get destroyed by other wildlife whilst the geese are not on the nest.
Lake Management
- Thinning of vegetation around the lakes is carried out on an annual basis in order for the lake to breath, encourage fish and wildfowl.
