Biodiversity
Discover how we aim to protect and increase our current levels of biodiversity across our green campus.
Our objectives
- To protect and increase current levels of biodiversity on campus
- To monitor discharges and emissions to land, air, and water to ensure effective controls are in place to reduce emissions and manage the risk of pollution
- Increase engagement opportunities for staff, students and the community
Targets
- Prioritise the use of native trees and plants in landscaping projects across campus and ensure all new tree planting prioritises the use of native trees – fully implemented by 2026.
- Ensure 100% compliance with all legislation relating to emissions to air, water and land – ongoing target to be reviewed annually, to next be reviewed in September 2025.
- Prevent harmful levels of algal build up on all Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDs) – ongoing target to be reviewed annually, to next be reviewed in September 2025.
- Through a Citizen Science approach, develop an updated map of species type and location for campus by 2026.
