International fee
The international fee will apply for EU students commencing programmes in academic session 2021/22, with the exception of Irish Nationals or those who can evidence settled status.
Referred to Study for Honours (QSFH)
Students Referred to Study for Honours (QSFH) will have a tuition fee to pay calculated at the undergraduate standard part time credit price (as noted above) for all registered module credits. This will be charged at the rate for the most recent academic session. There is no entitlement to additional external student funding. An invoice will be issued immediately following registration and students will be advised on the payment deadline date. All tuition fees must be paid in full for attendance at graduation and issue of certification.
Transferred to Part Time (TPT)
Students Transferred to Part Time(TPT) for reassessment purposes will have a tuition fee to pay calculated at the undergraduate part time standard credit price (as noted above) for all registered module credits, charged at the fee rate for the academic year of study. An invoice will be issued immediately following registration and students will be advised on payment dates. Subject to previous study, you may qualify for student funding in the form of a maintenance loan and tuition fee loan. Despite completing less than 120 credits, Student Finance regard Transferred to Part Time as a full study year and include it as part of your overall funding entitlement. Students who don’t qualify for funding will be required to self-fund their study.
The University may administer a small inflationary rise in tuition fees, in line with Government policy, in subsequent academic years as you progress through your course.
Bursaries
If you are studying on a teaching or health and social work programme, you may be eligible for a bursary.
Teaching bursaries
Qualifying for a teaching bursary from the Department for Education (DfE) is straightforward. There is no formal application, the University will award the bursary if you meet the criteria.
DfE bursaries are paid in addition to any Student Finance maintenance loan awarded.
During enrolment notification will be issued by email to confirm bursary entitlement and scheduled payment dates. Qualifying students will be asked to confirm nominated bank account details and their National Insurance number and agree to Terms and Conditions defined by the DfE.
Payment will only be made once you have met all of the conditions of entry and are fully registered on programme.
Students may only receive one initial teacher training bursary within the academic year. Should you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one bursary, Department for Education guidelines state that only the higher award may be received.
2022/2023 trainees
For academic year 2022/2023 trainees are only eligible for a bursary or scholarship if they’re entitled to support under the student finance criteria. Applicants may be eligible for a PGCE bursary if they hold a PhD, Master’s, first, 2:1 or 2:2 degree qualification.
Math’s or Computing scholarships
Students in receipt of a Math’s or Computing Scholarship must provide confirmation from the Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarships provider or BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Confirmation should be then sent to Academic Registry.
Undergraduate bursaries
Undergraduate bursaries are only available to students in their final year of BSc (Hons) Secondary Mathematics with QTS.
Subject knowledge enhancement (SKE)
Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) bursaries are only payable upon confirmation of funding from the DfE, this may take some time.
To be eligible for an NHS social work bursary, you need to meet the specific criteria outlined on the social work bursaries page of the NHSBSA website. This bursary is non-repayable and contributes to your living expenses during your period of study.
The University is awarded a limited number of bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate study and is required to nominate students in advance of the academic year following set criteria. Not all students may receive a bursary.
Support is available through the NHS Learning Support Fund for health programmes leading to specific awards. You can find more details on all financial support available on the student services pages of the NHSBSA website.
