UniSkills Workshops are an opportunity for a deeper dive into a specific skill that will support you on your academic journey. Facilitated by our friendly and knowledgeable Academic Skills Advisors, these sessions provide an informal safe space where you will be supported alongside other students in a small group setting.
Uniskills Workshops run throughout the academic year and cover a range of key academic skills including:
- Academic reading, writing and referencing
- Finding academic print and digital resources
- Conducting a literature review
- Effective exam preparation
- Presentation skills
You can explore the current UniSkills Workshops timetable below, and all workshops are linked to their unique event page but you will need to be logged into the Student Life Portal to go direct to book your place!
You can view and book on all our UniSkills Workshops via the Student Life Portal.
When you log in to the Student Life Portal and click into any of the UniSkills Workshops (which are listed under Events) you will be able to read all about the workshop, what the session covers and find out more about the available date(s), time(s) and location(s) prior to booking.
Once you’ve registered your place you will also receive all the information you need to join the workshop in a booking confirmation email.
All workshop emails will be sent to your student email address. If you don’t spot them in your main inbox you may need to check we’ve not slipped into your junk / spam folder.

Whether you are completely new to university, in your final year, or returning to postgraduate study, why not come along and share your experiences?
Each session is facilitated by both an Academic Skills Advisor and a Student Advisor, and offers you the opportunity to:
- Meet other Returning to Learning students
- Share any concerns about returning to academic study at university
- Learn how others in this situation have adapted to Higher Education
- Suggest tips for effective learning
- Develop your academic resilience
We are always happy to answer questions, share our knowledge about studying at Edge Hill University, or just have a chat!
Returning to Learning meet on alternate Wednesdays throughout the year in the Willow Room, 1st floor of Catalyst. You can book your place in advance online (booking links below) or drop-in any time between 1-3pm for a cuppa and a chat (tea, coffee and biscuits are provided!).
