It will help you recognise the qualities of those with a ‘growth’ as opposed to ‘fixed’ mindset, and help prepare you to feel confident in dealing constructively with future feedback.

Research Skills at University

This topic will help you to discover more about developing your research skills in preparation for studying at Edge Hill University. We will introduce you to the concept of academic information, the importance of using dedicated search tools to find high quality information and discuss good note taking techniques for carrying out your research. 

Introduction to Academic Writing at University

This topic introduces what academic writing is and what it involves at university level. We will look at what to expect as a student at Edge Hill University, how to get the most out of your learning and how to maintain your study motivation. 

Transitioning to Taught Postgraduate (PGT) Study

This topic introduces you to the step up from undergraduate to taught postgraduate (PGT) study. We will help you to recognise and understand what the expectations are in relation to academic research, reading and writing skills at this level. We will also introduce you to the many ways you can access support during your time at Edge Hill.

Getting Digital Ready

This digital recording has been designed, and is delivered, by two Edge Hill students. Join them as they help you get digital ready in preparation for your course. You will be introduced to the key university systems you will use at Edge Hill and discover how to get help and support to develop your digital skills.

Accessibility Resources

Accessibility is an important consideration for everyone at the university and students have access to a range of assistive technologies that can assist you with developing your academic skills, such as academic writing and proofreading. Launch the Accessible and Assistive Technologies Toolkit for a brief overview of assistive software and technologies available to all Edge Hill students.
