Active Wellbeing Programme (AWP)

Welcome to the Active Wellbeing Programme (AWP). We have a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing. Our team of experienced staff are looking forward to welcoming you on to the programme and supporting you to improve your wellbeing and health.

What is AWP?

Exercise releases endorphins, your body’s natural “happy hormone” in turn triggering positive feelings.

AWP is a 10-week programme designed to give you every opportunity and support to enhance your health and wellbeing. On your first appointment we will conduct an initial assessment to discuss reasons for referral, find out more about you, create a bespoke plan, set some goals, and answer any questions.

Following this consultation, you will then be given the appropriate support to follow the programme designed for you and invited back on week three and week six to reassess. After this, you will then be asked to complete the final four weeks of the programme without supervision. Once you complete the 10 weeks you will receive a final consultation to discuss your referral. You will be given options to continue with your health and wellbeing journey.

Requirements

To join AWP, you must:

  • Be a student at Edge Hill University
  • Have been referred by the Student Wellbeing Team
  • Be available to attend at least once a week
  • Not already be a member of Edge Hill Sport
  • Be motivated to improve your wellbeing.
