The Arts Centre has an exciting programme of cinema, live music, theatre, dance, National Theatre and RSC Live productions taking place throughout the year.
Over the years, we have welcomed some of the biggest names in comedy. Including Katherine Ryan, James Acaster and Russell Kane, just to name a few.

The Arts CentreStudents’ Union
Run by students, for students. You’ll find a whole host of activities planned to welcome you onto campus. The full programme of Welcome Week events in the SU venue will be released closer to your start date.
Located within the heart of our beautiful campus, the Students’ Union is the perfect place to meet like-minded people. Once you join us as a student, you’re automatically enrolled as a member. So why not join a sports club or society?

Our Sports Centre is home to an 80 station fitness suite, 25-metre swimming pool and running track. And you can become a member at a discounted price. So if you fancy building strength in the gym, want to improve your swimming or would like to perfect your running form on the athletics track, then definitely call into the Sports Centre to have a look around.
Edge Hill Sport
If you want to represent the University in competitive sport, there are plenty of opportunities to do so as part of Team Edge Hill. There are a range of sports to get involved with and you can find out more on the Team Edge Hill webpage.
One of the biggest events in Edge Hill’s sporting calendar is Varsity. This is where we go up against the University of Central Lancashire to compete in an annual varsity competition. A number of sports are involved, and each fixture contributes towards the varsity total, with the University with the most points taking the trophy home.
Aiming to up your step count? Take part in parkrun, every Saturday at 9am, starting at The Sports Centre. Parkrun is a weekly, free 5km walk, jog or run which is open to the public, to all abilities. You’ll need to register before you attend so that you can scan your barcode at the end of the 5km and receive your time.

The Hub
The Hub really is the central meeting space for everyone. It’s home to a number of our catering outlets, with our most recent addition based here too – our EH market. As well as our on-campus convenience store, numerous social spaces and our twice-weekly ‘Hub Market’.
Spaces to relax
The beach
A beach in Ormskirk? On campus? Yes, you heard us right. Located in Eastern Campus, right next to Chancellors Court halls, you’ll find our secret beach. Okay, so it isn’t comparable to Southport or Formby, but it’s perfect for a spot of sunbathing after a summer study session.

Catalyst
Want a quiet space to relax in between studies? Why not head to the Catalyst. Take a book with you or grab one whilst you’re there – it doesn’t have to be related to your studies either. What’s more, you can choose the level of noise you’d like to be around. The closer to the top floor that you get, the quieter it becomes – the top floor is completely silent. It has its own café too, so you have everything you need to stay refreshed and refuelled after a day of studying.
Green spaces
Our award-winning campus is the place to be if you love greenery and wildlife. And we’re proud of the fact our campus has been recognised as one of the country’s best green spaces for 13 successive years (Green Flag Award 2024), which places us alongside some of the best green spaces and parks in the UK. Use this space to help improve your wellbeing. Spending time in green space can:
- lift your mood,
- reduce negative feelings such as stress, anger and loneliness,
- help you to relax and recharge,
- help you to feel grounded,
- improve your physical health,
- motivate you to become more active,
- introduce you to other students,
- connect you to the Edge Hill community.
And make sure to check out our roof gardens too – they give a lovely view across campus.
Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and a lot is going on beneath the surface.
Our Environmental Sustainability Delivery Plan underpins our actions, from using energy from renewable sources to implementing our Carbon Management Plan. We have also created Biodiversity Hotspot Zones to support healthy ecosystems, but we’re not stopping there. We are continually reviewing and improving our activities across the University to promote a more sustainable future for our community.
Food at Edge Hill
From our vegetarian restaurant, Roots, and our street food specialist, Garden 41, to the quick and easy ‘SUBWAY’, and EH Market in the Hub. When it comes to finding food on campus, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Council tax exemption
Once you’re fully enrolled, you’ll be able to request a Confirmation of Student Registration Certificate online. This certificate will be emailed to your Edge Hill email account, will act as proof of your enrolment on your course and can be submitted to your Local Authority for Council Tax exemption. This will be valid for the current academic session only.
Please note, Confirmation of Student Registration Certificates (CSRC) will only be available from the first teaching week of semester one and this will differ depending on the semester dates of your programme. A button to request a CSRC will be made available via your Student Record on your Student Homepage. If the button doesn’t appear and you believe you are eligible for council tax exemption, please contact the Enrolment Team via email at: [email protected]

WiFi
As a student, you can connect to Eduroam using your student number and password which will be provided to you when stage one of enrolment opens.
Remember: keep these details safe, you’ll need them as soon as you arrive.
Launderettes
Living on campus? Our onsite launderettes mean you can wash your clothes without having to travel far. And it’s all controlled by an app, Circuit. So you can see how long is left on your wash so you don’t need to wait around for it to finish. So why not head to the library (or somewhere else) whilst you wait?

Car parking
Commuting to Edge Hill? You’ll benefit from free parking (subject to eligibility and availability). Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll be able to apply for a parking permit. Due to the eligibility criteria, students living on campus are not eligible to park on campus, however, there are some exceptions for students on placement.
The car park can get very busy during peak periods and parking permits don’t guarantee a space. So even if you do have a parking permit, we suggest you build in sufficient time to get parked up.
The only way to guarantee parking is through car sharing with another permit holder. Visit our travel page for full details on how to book a space.
Travel and transportPost and parcels
If you’re planning to live on campus, you may be wondering how you’ll receive your post and parcels. It’s simple – your mail and parcels will arrive at the Post Room and they will send you an email once it’s been received so that you can collect it. This email will include all the information about when and where to collect your mail. Please ensure that the address on any items you order contains your full name, room number, hall and the University’s address. And make sure that you read the email from the Post and Print Team carefully as this may contain collection information changes.
Any items not collected after four weeks will be returned to the sender, so you’ll have to make sure that you collect your mail promptly.
