We recognise the environmental and social implications of procuring and providing food on campus and have developed a sustainable food policy to manage our operations effectively.

All food suppliers are provided with a copy of the Sustainable Food Policy and we work together to ensure the objectives are met.

Edge Hill University have recognised the key role food can play in dealing with diet-related poor health to food poverty and waste, climate change and biodiversity loss to declining prosperity and social dislocation. Food is not only at the heart of some of the greatest problems, but also a vital part of the solution.

Love Food Hate Waste

As part of Edge Hill University’s commitment to sustainability we support the Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW) scheme.

Almost 50% of the total amount of food thrown away in the UK comes from our homes.  Wasting this food costs the average household £470 a year.

Too Good to Go

Edge Hill University recognises the importance of reducing food waste. Too Good to Go makes sure delicious, fresh food from cafes, restaurants, hotels, shops and manufacturers doesn’t go to waste. The Too Good To Go app lets customers buy and collect Magic Bags of this food – at a great price – directly from businesses.

Experience cashless catering with Upay.

Upay is a fast and convenient way to pay for a range of catering service at Food at Edge Hill managed outlets. Most food items can be purchased using your Upay account. Alcohol and certain confectionery items are exempt therefore these items will need to be purchased separately.

Upay is a safe way to pay for catering services. You don’t need to worry about carrying cash, but if you do lose or find your card stolen, you can simply log into your account and block the card. You can also visit the FM helpdesk where the team can issue a new card, putting a block on your lost card.
