What does my offer mean?
Conditional Firm (CF) offer
Accepting a conditional offer from Edge Hill University as your Firm Choice means that you will need to wait until your results are published (and any other offer conditions fulfiled) before your place can be confirmed.
Often this will mean waiting until publication of results on Thursday 15 August. If you are taking a BTEC, Scottish Highers, International Baccalaureate or an Access to HE Diploma, your results may be available slightly earlier.
Getting your results
If you receive results that satisfy the conditions of your offer, your place at Edge Hill will be confirmed. You will be able to login to UCAS Track to check this. The new status you are looking for is Unconditional Firm (UF), which indicates that you have met all of the conditions of your offer.
You may still need to fulfil other requirements, depending on your course. These may include Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, medical clearance or providing proof of your qualifications.
Conditional Insurance (CI) offer
When you receive your results, if your Firm Choice does not confirm your place, and you have met the conditions of your insurance offer with us, we will automatically confirm your place. In this instance, your status on UCAS Track would change to Unconditional Firm (UF) for your choice at Edge Hill.
If you decide to come to Edge Hill, you may still need to fulfil other requirements beyond your academic qualifications, depending on your course. These may include Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, medical clearance or providing proof of your qualifications.
Unconditional Firm (UF) offer
If you accept an unconditional offer from Edge Hill as your Firm Choice, you have already met the academic requirements and do not need to notify us of any further results.
Please note that even though you have met the academic criteria, you may still need to fulfil other requirements, depending on your chosen course. These may include Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, medical clearance or providing proof of your qualifications.
The final deadline for satisfying all conditions of your offer is Friday 31 August. Some courses may have specific requirements that will have earlier deadlines. If this is relevant to you, you will have been advised of these by the Admissions Team.
Unconditional offer making
It’s important to make your decision based on the university and the course you think is right for you. Whilst Unconditional Offers are being made by some universities, we believe that your decision should not be based on whether a university makes your offer Unconditional if you choose them.
At Edge Hill, we don’t make Unconditional Offers to applicants who are sitting their A Level, BTEC or equivalent qualifications. Instead, we set stretching entry requirements to encourage applicants to work hard to achieve the very best grades that they can. Achieving the best results you can is an important part of your education and shows us, and future employers, that you are committed to your own success. Having the goal of meeting the entry requirements will help your motivation as you meet this challenge.
We do know, however, that exams don’t always go to plan. Sometimes, the grades you get are not always what you had hoped for. If that’s where you find yourself this summer, we will be happy to talk to you. If you’ve been committed to Edge Hill, and if we can see that you visited us and engaged with the admissions process, we will look again at your application and your reference when we get your results. If you have narrowly missed out on your grades we will take that into account when making our decisions.
If you have any questions about your offer, please get in touch.
