Explore how we aim to reduce our water usage while finding new ways to reuse domestic water sources.
Objectives
- To reduce the environmental impact and costs arising from water use through the better management of resources.
- Reduce wasting water via inefficiencies in the system.
Targets
- Reduce mains water consumption by 3% (per student and staff FTE) from a 2010/11 baseline by 2025.
- Increase implementation of grey water from holding tanks under the sports pitches for the purposes of irrigation by 2026.
- Implement water audit findings to improve water use efficiency on campus – by end of 2026.
- Develop water use plan based on water audit to identify inefficiencies in the system by 2026.

Measurements below represent total volume of water used per academic year for the Ormskirk campus.
- 2021/22 = 160,274 m3
