Achieve ICDL and Sage certificates as part of your course and gain exemptions from the examinations of professional bodies including ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA and CIMA. Chemistry

What you can expect

Four fundamental pillars of chemistry will be explored throughout your study – organic, inorganic, physical and analytical. When you’re not in the labs, you’ll be investigating concepts through theory-based study, or exploring the relationship between physical and biological sciences. Fastrack: Preparation for Higher Education

Our Fastrack programme has been specifically designed to support progression on to a range of undergraduate degrees at Edge Hill.

The course is aimed at mature learners who do not hold the required entry qualifications and who have been out of study for at least two years. Study with us, and you’ll be equipped with the confidence, familiarisation and essential academic skills required to study at degree level.

What you can expect

Successful completion of our Fastrack course will enable you to be considered for a place on one of our degree programmes. This is in lieu of achieving the UCAS Tariff points in the entry criteria for the relevant programme, although places on specific degrees are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Our lecturers use their specialist research on the history of racism, crime, politics, popular culture, and religion to ensure our history students develop a deep subject knowledge. Pick from four specialist pathways – adult, child, learning disabilities, and mental health. Whichever one you choose, your degree will be approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, so you’ll be eligible to register as a qualified nurse when you graduate. Half of your time will be spent in practice in hospitals and community settings. Thanks to our connections, we offer a range of placement locations in the NHS and independent sector.

I was fascinated by the differences between a modern hospital Critical Care Unit and a traditional Chinese medicine hospital. In one we saw state-of-the-art intensive care beds, and in the other, bottles of dried baby spiders, seahorses and lizards waiting to be ground up into remedies.

Our PGCEs (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and Postgraduate Teacher Training courses are complemented by a professional development portfolio for teachers, those supporting teaching and learning, and others working in schools and educational settings. 

If you want to join a PGCE in secondary education but lack the required knowledge, we may have a suitable subject knowledge enhancement course for you.
