BA (Hons) Childhood & Youth Studies

My favourite thing about this degree is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.

My favourite thing about this degree is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people. I also hope to help shape policies and practices that support their development once I graduate. I am also going on a field trip to Amsterdam for one of my modules which is an amazing opportunity.

All of the modules I’ve studied have informed me about many theories, policies and practices that I can take into the world of work. My work based Employability module has given me the opportunity to go on placement, work on my CV, cover letter, interview, presentation and reflection skills. With this module I’ve had a sense of reality, new skills, and confidence I can get a job after graduation.

I’ve absolutely loved living with new people, forming lifelong friendships and going out at night. On the other hand, I’ve loved having indoor game nights with my flatmates and getting to know the gorgeous place I call home.

I’m very grateful for the variety of modules. It’s allowed me to learn subjects I didn’t learn in college, and develop new skills. This, and support from the Careers team, has helped me figure out the direction I want to go in. After graduation I hope to undertake the MA Social Work at Edge Hill University and spend a summer in Camp America.
