There are plenty of places to socialise and relax on campus, as well as a range of options if you’re looking for somewhere to eat and drink or enjoy a night out.
Food and Drink
Whether it’s a quick catch-up over a Starbucks coffee, lunch between lectures or a late night treat, you are sure to find a suitable choice at one of the cafes, restaurants or bars on campus.
A great choice of delicious hot meals are available, including a varied menu of meat and vegetarian dishes, which cater for a diverse range of dietary needs. We also offer a pasta bar and wok bar where your food will be cooked to order.
Other options include freshly prepared sandwiches, paninis, wraps and baguettes, jacket potatoes with a choice of hot and cold fillings, and a selection of pizzas, soups and salads.
Hot food is served in Sages, The Red Bar and the vegan and vegetarian restaurant Roots Kitchen. Additional catering outlets across the campus include Grab n Go and the Coffee Bar in the Hub, Café Rewind in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine, 53.3 Degrees North in Catalyst, and a further Coffee Bar in the Sports Centre, all serving snacks, drinks and cakes.
The SU Bar offers a wide choice of refreshing drinks, stocking both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, with a range of burgers, pizzas, hot dogs and paninis available until 9pm. There is also a Subway on campus, as well as a takeaway serving food until late.
Two on-campus convenience stores, including a McColls, sell a variety of groceries, as well as newspapers, magazines, wines and spirits, greetings cards and confectionary.
You will also find popular market stalls in the Hub on selected days of the week, selling everything from homemade cakes to smoothies, crepes, and fruit and vegetables.
University nightlife plays an important part in student social life.
Judge Jules and Basshunter are amongst the names to have taken to the stage at the on-campus club, The Quad, where the regular themed nights include Fun House Mondays, Social (on Wednesdays) and SU Saturdays.
If you want to relax in the SU Bar, the weekly line-up of events includes the Strangled Cats Karaoke Club and a Sunday night quiz, with live sport shown on plasma TVs.
