Assessment of Edge Hill University apprenticeships
Edge Hill University is an Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) approved end-point assessment organisation, meaning it is officially recognised to carry out final assessments for apprenticeship programmes, ensuring that learners meet the required standards before completing their qualifications.
End-Point Assessment (EPA)
An EPA is the final stage of an apprenticeship programme. It’s a overview assessment of whether an apprentice has developed the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the applicable apprenticeship standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfATE).
During a period called the gateway, the employer and training provider (in this case, Edge Hill University) will decide if their apprentice is ready to complete an EPA.
Find further information about EPAs on the GOV.UK website
Who carries out the EPA?
An EPA is delivered on higher and degree apprenticeship programmes by an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO). Here at Edge Hill University, we are both the training provider and the EPAO. As such, with the EPA being essential to the programme, it is carried out independently to the training provided by us to ensure fairness.
