Conference- meetings and event spaces

Want to hold your next event in beautiful surroundings? Our campus has been awarded Green Flag status for 12 consecutive years, with our modern high-tech buildings nestled amongst lakes and trees. We have a wide range of meeting rooms, classrooms, and conference and event spaces that you’re welcome to hire. We can also organise catering, from a buffet lunch to private silver service. More than just a venue, you might also find it valuable to have some of our academics join your event to share their knowledge as a speaker, or to discuss potential collaboration opportunities during networking breaks.

Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre

Our amazing Clinical Simulation Centre replicates real world conditions and is the perfect place for health and social care training and development. We can even invite some of our performing arts students to role play relevant scenarios for a truly memorable experience.

The Centre includes wards, debrief rooms, an operating theatre, anatomy and ultrasound resource centre, clinical skills space, consultation rooms and ‘The Better at Home Suite’ – recreating a home environment for social work, community care (incl. dementia care), homebirths and paramedic callouts.   

Film and Media

We have recording studios, sound editing suites, a radio studio, rehearsal rooms, animation studios, a photographic studio and TV studios (with broadcast capacity and full production capabilities).

Performing Arts

For performing arts, we have a 170-seat studio theatre, dance studios (some with sprung floors), drama studio, rehearsal rooms, a fully equipped theatre construction workshop, digital sound studio, digital design suite, theatre design studios and costume construction area, a music technology room, a recital room, practice studios/teaching spaces (including recording studio/control) and an outdoor performance area.  

We also have an exhibition space and art foyer alongside a café-bar.

Computing and IT

Our state-of-the-art £13million Tech Hub is home to our modern computing and engineering laboratories which are equipped with comprehensive test and measurement equipment, high-specification computers, high-resolution screens and the latest hardware and software.

We also have a four-screen CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment) that provides a super immersive 3D virtual environment, enabling users to immerse themselves in a virtual room and experience real life scenarios in 4K resolution. We also have specialist laboratories for networking and games programming.

Sport and Physical Activity

Make use of our 60 acres of outstanding sport and leisure facilities. Our state-of-the-art Sports Centre is fully accessible and features:

• an 80-station fitness suite
• aerobics studio
• fully sprung, production standard dance studio

• 25-metre swimming pool
• eight-court sports hall with spectator gallery
• health suite with sauna and steam room
• a suite of sports science and psychology laboratories for testing athletic performance

Our international competition-standard outdoor facilities include:

• floodlit eight-lane running track and athletics field
• three floodlit 3G 6-a-side courts, floodlit AstroTurf hockey pitch, and a full-sized 3G pitch for football and rugby
• six grass pitches for football and rugby
• four floodlit tennis and netball courts
• a 2.5 km conditioning trail with exercise stations

Law and Policing

If you’re looking for a realistic environment to prepare staff for mock hearings, providing evidence in a Coroners Court or an industrial tribunal, or to act as an expert witness, you could make use of our mooting room (a mock court).

Alternatively, you might want to use our Crime House – a realistic residential property that we use to train our policing students. The facility is set up to aid training related to a range of criminal and investigative scenarios, and features:  

• a parade room for briefings
• a custody suite and cell
• cameras in each room and a monitoring suite
• a computer-augmented virtual environment to act as an immersive suite for scenario training

Schools and Education

We’re passionate about incorporating outdoor learning into the curriculum, and we have an on-site forest school site and a lakeside urban beach that can be hired by external organisations. Whether you’re a school wanting to bring your pupils, or wish to use the facilities to train staff, just get in touch.

Psychology and Neuroscience

We have state-of-the-art eye trackers, transcranial magnetic stimulation (T.M.S) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for examining cognitive functioning and brain activity. Other specialist laboratories include a group testing laboratory, two bi-directional observation rooms, a simulation bar (e.g., for alcohol-related research), audio suites (for recording and analysing voices), a Biopac lab (to measure physiological responses), a virtual reality (VR) lab, EEG facilities (to measure electrical activity) and a human tissue authority lab.
