Dr Steve Jones
Steve Jones has a strong track record in clinical practice within the criminal justice system, working for eight years in criminal justice liaison as a clinical specialist and team manager. Steve established close working relationships with police custody areas, the probation service and prisons nationally, when working with persons with complex needs and high risk factors and he was instrumental in follow on agency care arrangements from custody to community.
As a senior lecturer and programme lead Steve has gained considerable experience in interagency training. He is a module leader in substance misuse, risk in mental health, personality discorder and mental health law. Steve is research active and his Phd is on coercion and drug withdrawal and treatment within criminal justice settings.
Steve is clinically and academically experienced towards custodial practice and research, and crucially is currently credible and works within custodial settings researching drug misuse in custodial environments, and the challenges this presents for staff and users of services.
