The Edge Hill University Medical School will develop a new generation of doctors who understand the needs of the local communities and can respond to, and drive forward, new models of care.

The Medical School has been training much-needed additional doctors for the North West since 2020.

In addition, the University’s Postgraduate Medical Institute houses well-established educational programmes and programmatic research involving external stakeholders and delivers work-based postgraduate medical leadership throughout the region.

Facilities

Part of the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine, the Medical School has access to a fantastic multi-million-pound facility, the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre.

As a student, you can use our facilities to learn necessary skills for your chosen course and take part in a range of simulation scenarios. These scenarios are designed to replicate real-world conditions and enable you to safely practice situations that you might be confronted with on placement or when qualified.

The centre is equipped with wards, patient consultation rooms, theatres, ultrasound scanners, and state-of-the-art patient simulators – all to support students with practicing their skills in a safe space.

Employability

Voluntary organisation placement

Edge Hill University Medical School has an ethos of social accountability and community engagement, with the aim of showing students that health and social care does not just take place in NHS premises.
