English Requirements for Sri Lankan students

To study with us, you’ll need to show that you meet our English language requirements. There’s more than one way to do this, and we’ve made it simple to understand what’s accepted.

All students will need to provide one of the recognised English language tests. The scores you need will depend on the course level you’re applying for.

Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) entry requirements for Sri Lankan students

To be considered for an undergraduate course at Edge Hill University, you must hold one of the following:

  • Sri Lankan A Levels (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) or Cambridge A Levels.
  • Advanced entry is possible from relevant diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

Postgraduate (Master’s) entry requirements for Sri Lankan students

Postgraduate programmes at Edge Hill University offer a diverse range of opportunities for students looking to further their academic journey and career development. Whether you’re interested in deepening your expertise through a taught programme or pursuing original research, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Postgraduate Taught programmes

To be considered for a taught postgraduate course at Edge Hill University, you must have obtained one of the following:

  • Four year Bachelor’s (BA) special degree level awarded by a reputable university.
  • Applicants who have studied for the three year BA general degree may be considered for postgraduate entry.
  • Four-year degree with 55%+.
  • Three-year degree 80%+.

Entry requirements can vary depending on the course, so it’s important to check the specific guidance provided on the individual course page.

Postgraduate Research programmes

If you’re considering research-based postgraduate study, we offer both MRes (Master of Research) and PhD programmes across a wide range of disciplines.

As part of your application, you will need to submit a Bachelors degree certificate and transcript with a minimum equivalent to 2:1, a research proposal, an academic CV, a scan of your passport, an IELTS with grade 7.0, budget sheet and a scan of your degree certificates/ transcripts with your application.
