All students have a lockable cupboard in their kitchen and are expected to share refrigerator/other kitchen storage space with their housemates.

Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are not provided. English language development (from partner universities) and study abroad students’ accommodation includes a catered meal package.

Extra items can be purchased at a very reasonable price in the many shops within Ormskirk.

A link to your contract will be emailed to you before you arrive.  This requires e-signing before you collect your room keys.

You can pay your accommodation fees in one of three ways:

  • In advance (the full amount)
  • When you arrive on campus (the full amount)
  • When you arrive on campus (in instalments)

You may also need to pay a deposit in advance to secure your room, this amount will then be deducted from your overall accommodation fees.

1. Once your accommodation contract comes to an end and you want to leave your room you will need to let the international office know your departure date.

2. Then you need to contact our Accommodation Team so a member of staff can check your room and arrange your deposit refund.

3. On the day you leave your room keys will need to be passed back to our Campus Support Team (where you originally collected them from).

Need help organising your transport when you leave?

Study Abroad Students and English Language Students get free transportation to Manchester/Liverpool airport and local train stations in these cities on specific departures dates (which you will be informed of).  In order to take advantage of the free transportation please ensure you send the International Office your departure details when requested.

Are you an undergraduate, postgraduate, or Erasmus student? The international office will be happy to help you book a taxi email [email protected]

Most international students choose to live on campus, but for those that prefer more independence there is a variety of privately owned accommodation around the Ormskirk campus and surrounding area, such as Liverpool, Southport and St Helens.

Our accommodation team can offer support to enable you to find off-campus accommodation, including providing a register of local student properties.

Living off campus, you will still have access to all of the University’s support services, IT and library resources, catering outlets, launderette, social areas and activities.

Edge Hill runs a shuttle bus from Ormskirk bus station to campus which you may find useful if you are living in Ormskirk or commuting in by train. This bus is free if you show your Edge Hill Unicard.

You need to decide what you can afford to pay in rent before you start looking for properties. There is plenty of accommodation available so there is no need to take the first house you look at. You should never take a house without viewing it first.

Any contract you sign with a private landlord is a legally binding document for a fixed term and you are financially liable for the rent for the whole term of the contract so make sure you’re certain you want a property before committing yourself. Before you sign any contract, it is best to seek advice from the Accommodation Team.
