BSc (Hons) Nursing
Pick from four specialist fields:
Whichever field you choose, you will spend 50% of your time studying the theory, for a degree approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
You will also spend 50% of your time in practice learning placements which are within the NHS hospital and community settings, as well as local authority, independent and voluntary sector organisations.
Upon completion of your studies, you will be eligible to register as a qualified nurse in your chosen field.

Choose from six combined specialist fields:

Whichever field you choose, you will spend 50% of your time studying the theory, for a integrated Masters degree approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
You will also spend 50% of your time in practice learning placements, which are within the NHS hospital and community settings, as well as local authority, independent and voluntary sector organisations.
For the first three years, you will follow the BSc (Hons) Nursing programme and, in the final year, you will complete the Masters element.
Upon completion of your studies, you will be eligible to register as a qualified nurse in two chosen fields of nursing.
Masters in Nursing and Social Work
Choose from four specialist fields:
- MNSW (Hons) Adult Nursing & Social Work
- MNSW (Hons) Children’s Nursing & Social Work
- MNSW (Hons) Learning Disabilities Nursing & Social Work
- MNSW (Hons) Mental Health Nursing & Social Work
Whichever field you choose, you will spend 50% of your time studying the theory, for a degree approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
You will also spend 50% of your time in practice learning placements which are within the NHS hospital and community settings, as well as local authority, independent and voluntary sector organisations.
This programme offers the eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a qualified nurse and with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
Foundation Nursing Associate degrees
If you want to care for a diverse population, hone your skills with a broad range of practical experiences, and qualify to provide clinical support for registered nurses by completing our Foundation Nursing Associate course, gaining eligibility to apply for registration with the NMC.
Return to Practice Programmes
Are you thinking of returning to a career in healthcare? This programme of study will allow you to gain eligibility to re-register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
MSc nursing programme- Postgraduate Qualification
MSc Nursing
If you already hold a non-nursing degree, our two-year MSc Nursing programme provides a route for graduates to gain eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a professionally-qualified nurse.
Postgraduate Qualifications
PGDip Nursing
If you’re a qualified nurse holding current registration with the NMC, you can also train with us in a second field of nursing. Our one year full-time PGDip Nursing course, enables you to undertake an additional professional role in adult nursing, children’s nursing, learning disability nursing or mental health nursing, and achieve dual registration.
NHS funding support for Edge Hill University nursing students
The NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) is designed to help students on certain health-related courses as we educate and train the next generation of skilled and compassionate healthcare workers. Your personal circumstances will determine eligibility.
- You can apply for a non-means-tested Training Grant of £5,000 per academic year, or a pro rata amount for part-time students. Students on certain courses can get a Special Subject Payment, which is an additional £1,000.
- If you have at least one dependant child under 15 years old (or 17 if registered with special education needs) you can also receive Parental Support. This is a grant of £2,000 per academic year or a pro rata amount for part-time students.
- You may be able to claim back excess travel or accommodation costs, whilst on placement.
- If you’re experiencing unforeseen financial hardship, you may be able to claim up to £3,000.

The clinical skills and simulation centre facilities include ward simulations and operating theatres with industry-standard equipment, as well as high-fidelity mannequins that can simulate a wide range of clinical scenarios, to ensure an authentic learning experience.
