Paramedic Practice is one of the fastest developing health professions. Studying our course approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and delivered primarily at our St James’ site in Manchester, you’ll prepare for roles within the ambulance service, urgent care centres, GP clinics and other health and social care settings.
Learn from registered paramedics and a range of specialists. Practise in our ambulance simulator. Solve problems in our 3D immersive simulation suite. Then apply everything you’ve learnt to practice – you’ll spend half of your time on the frontline with ambulance crews and other healthcare teams.
Quick, clinical decisions. Assessment of symptoms. Prompt intervention. Life as a paramedic on the frontline is challenging, yet extremely rewarding. At Edge Hill, you’ll learn from registered paramedics and a range of other health care specialists.
Approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), we focus on recreating scenarios you might face, in a safe and supportive environment. Practise in our ambulance simulator, hone skills at clinical skills stations and learn to problem-solve in our 3D immersive simulation suite. After practising with your peers, you’ll apply the theory on placements – half the course takes place in clinical settings.
Paramedic practice is one of the fastest developing health professions, and our graduates have a great employability rate. As well as the ambulance service, you might find opportunities in urgent care centres, GP clinics and walk-in centres. We also offer the MSci Nurse Paramedic (Adult) programme – the first of its kind in the UK.
- As an approved HCPC programme, you will be eligible to apply to join the professional register and work as a paramedic on completion of this course.
- The programme has a 100% employability rate (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2017/18). Long term career prospects are excellent too, while many paramedics also go on to further study.
- Apply theory to practice on a range of placements in urgent and emergency care settings across Greater Manchester and the North West.
- Paramedic Practice is delivered primarily at St James’ in central Manchester.
