We offer a range of support specifically aimed at mature students. There is advice available to you at every step of the application process as well as in person or virtual support once you become an Edge Hill University student.
What is a mature student?
A mature student can also be known as an adult learner. It refers to a person who’s had a period of time out of further education and is looking to return to full-time or part-time study. At university, this can be anyone over the age of 21 who is applying to or studying an undergraduate degree, or anyone over the age of 25 who is applying to or studying a postgraduate degree.
What qualifications do I need to go to university as a mature student?
You can find entry requirements for individual courses through our course search function. If you find that you don’t have the required qualifications, we can assess your suitability in other ways. Think of equivalent qualifications, certificates and/or work experience that have given you skills and knowledge relevant to your chosen course and include them in your application. Remember, as a mature student you will have more life and work experience under your belt, and this makes you as great a candidate as any to study at Edge Hill. To chat about your options, get in touch with the Admissions Team.
Can mature students stay in student accommodation?
Students of all ages and backgrounds can apply to stay in Edge Hill’s on-campus accommodation. We want your time with us to be as comfortable as possible, which is why we also offer adapted rooms, same-sex flats, and quiet flats. Speak to our Accommodation Team, and they can help you find the best fit for you. If you don’t want to live on-campus, they can help you find off-campus accommodation in the Ormskirk area.
