We are the newest members of the Operations Service Area here in FM following our move from Student Services. We provide a wide range of support for students living in halls of residence and work closely with colleagues around the University.

We mainly work with teams based within Student Services, Students’ Union, Admissions, Academic Registry, and Finance.

We are also split into 3 sections:

  • Accommodation Team (manage applications/bookings/Mercury/off campus database & housing list)
  • Hall Fees (payments/debt)
  • Campus Life (events for on and off campus students/student conduct issues)

 Overall, our main responsibilities and services include:

  • Managing room bookings within halls of residence for various different cohorts of students during the academic year (not including The Hollies)
  • To manage the content of the halls of resident licence agreement and ensure each resident is sent a copy
  • Manage and monitor the income for on campus accommodation, working closely with our Hall Fees Team, including the process of terminations to contract and placing credits on the systems
  • To work closely with our Hall Fees Team and Finance Office to ensure on campus students can update their card details, setup or make payments as required
  • To chase payments to maximise the level of income for on campus accommodation (this includes aged hall fee debt and making debt collection referrals where appropriate)
  • To provide regular occupancy data to management
  • Manage the off campus database with annual registrations from private landlords to produce our off campus housing list to students
  • To work in collaboration with our Students’ Union to deliver housing week and housing workshops for students
  • To maintain and create FAQs relating to accommodation within Engage 2 Serve system
  • To provide support and manage the administration of the accommodation database (for applications/room bookings/student data) on Mercury 3, including the design and implementation of the Accommodation Portal
  • To work closely with Admissions to send out invites to apply for accommodation to new cohorts
  • To provide pastoral support to on campus students by signposting to the relevant service as appropriate
  • To provide KPI data to University management, such as bad debt provisions
  • Administering sanctions in conjunction with the student disciplinary procedures
  • To manage the Campus Connector team and upholding the student voice within communications and activities
  • To facilitate a variety of support activities and events, including ‘That Thursday Thing’
  • To create and facilitate a programme of events and activities for students on and off campus, led by Campus Connectors
