All students who are studying towards a CPD programme or stand-alone module with the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine must enrol before they can start their course.
Enrolment is an essential process because it confirms your status as an Edge Hill University student, activates your IT/Library accounts, and allows you to access your learning resources online.
You must complete enrolment well in advance of your start date, as you may need to access pre-course information on Learning Edge (Blackboard). Any delay in enrolling will impact on your studies.
All students need to enrol each academic year, even if you are not studying a module.
How to enrol
We will email you instructions on how to enrol several weeks before your start date. Simply follow the steps below to ensure you are fully enrolled.
You will receive an enrolment invite email that contains everything you need to complete your enrolment – a link to our enrolment portal, a username (which is your 8-digit student number) and a temporary password.
Please enrol as soon as possible. Once you have submitted your enrolment, the enrolment team will need to authorise your ID and photo. We will send a confirmation email to your Edge Hill email account once your enrolment has been approved.
After you have enrolled, it can take up to 24 hours for you to get access to Learning Edge (Blackboard). Make sure you login here and read any course material before starting the module, as it will include important information and advice relating to your module, such as dates, times and locations of your classes.
Unfortunately, on rare occasions, some modules do need to be cancelled due to low student uptake, but please be assured that we will contact you via your Edge Hill email account to notify you as soon as we are aware.
We will send you an email at least 8 weeks before your start date, listing the modules you are due to study in the forthcoming academic year. Please check these are correct and in line with the pathway agreed with your module lead.
Once enrolment opens, we will then send you an email inviting you to enrol on your course.
To enrol, you will need to:
- Log into the enrolment portal
- Check your details
- Follow the onscreen instructions
- Click submit
Do this as soon as possible so you can access your course materials on Learning Edge (Blackboard).
Make sure you login here and read any course material before starting the module, as it will include important information and advice relating to your module, such as dates, times and locations of your classes.
If you can no longer attend your module, please let us know by responding to the email we will send you.
If you are not intending to study any modules, you are still required to enrol. We will contact you during the academic year for an update on when you intend to study your remaining modules.
Setting up your email
It is essential that you set up your Edge Hill email account – after your initial enrolment invite all further messages from us will be sent to your Edge Hill email address.
Use the username and password you were sent in your enrolment invite to log in and set your email up.
We strongly recommend that you direct your Edge Hill email account to a personal email account to ensure that you receive any messages that we may send – send a test email to your Edge Hill account to ensure that the diversion is working.
We also recommend that due to NHS firewalls, you do not use an NHS-based email account.
Please make Edge Hill University a trusted recipient and check your spam folder on a regular basis.
To receive your Edge Hill emails on your phone or tablet, download the Microsoft Outlook app from the Google Play Store (Android) or from the App Store (Apple).
Once you have downloaded it, open the app and it will prompt you to add your email account using your student number login and your password.
The app will then ask you to log in again, this time to Edge Hill’s own Outlook server. Once you have done this it will add your inbox to your mobile device.
If you no longer require your place, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. It is important that you do this as we have waiting lists in place for some modules. Please do not take it for granted that your Manager or Training Lead has done this for you.
Please make sure the University always has your up to date personal and contact details.
You can update your details at any time via the student homepage.
The University may contact you by email or text message as well as by mail, so it is important that we always have your correct contact details. If you have any queries about changing your personal details, please contact the Data Support Team.
As a CPD student, you will not automatically receive a Unicard, but if you request one you will receive one free of charge.
This card will act as your University identification and provides easy access to services across campuses.
Having a Unicard lets you:
- Borrow items from any Edge Hill University Library
- Have 24/7 access to PCs in the Catalyst
