Dyslexia Alternative Pathway CPD (Online)
Elevate Your Expertise with Edge Hill’s AMBDA HE/FE CPD or AMBDA CPD course.
Unlock new opportunities and develop your skills with our online CPD course designed to support your practice. Ideal for teachers and support staff holding AMBDA (or equivalent), this CPD course equips you with the tools you need to excel in your role and make a significant impact on your students’ learning journeys.

This comprehensive professional development programme is meticulously designed for educators committed to making a difference in the lives of learners with Dyselxia.
By joining this course, you will:
- Gain Specialised Knowledge: Acquire advanced strategies and insights tailored to support dyslexic students effectively, whether they are under 16 or post-16 learners.
- Enhance Your Skills: Develop practical techniques for teaching and assessing dyslexic learners, ensuring you can provide targeted and impactful support.
- Achieve Recognised Certification: Earn a prestigious qualification that reflects your expertise and dedication to improving educational outcomes for dyslexic students. On successful completion you will be able to apply for AMBDA in the opposite age group to your original accreditation. You will also receive a CPD certificate from Edge Hill of 15 hours.
Enjoy Flexible Learning: Benefit from our online format, allowing you to complete the course at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home.
To begin with you will be supported in planning, delivering and evaluating 10 lessons to your chosen learner. You will then assess a learner for dyslexia with advice on testing techniques and feedback on your dyslexia report so that you can be confident that your report writing skills are to the required standard.
Don’t miss this opportunity to advance your professional skills and enhance your teaching and assessing practice. In line with the 2025 SASC guidance on report writing, it is important that assessors have completed extended training, mentoring and/or professional development relevant to the areas of assessment and age ranges that they assess.
Cohorts start in June, October and February each year. The cost is £500, however there is also a charge of £80 for your certificate from the BDA. Sessions are recorded and all evening based. Three one-hour sessions in total plus ongoing support from your tutor.
