A huge welcome to you if you’re starting at our Edge Hill St James’ campus. We know that starting university is one of the most exciting times of your life, but it can also be overwhelming at times, with an abundance of new information, amidst a huge change.
We’re here to help talk you through everything you need during your orientation programme, so you are ready to start your course in Induction week. Here’s some key information for your first few days with us on campus, to help you settle in, make new friends and work out your timetable.
Have you fully enrolled onto your course?
You should have completed Stage One of enrolment online before you arrived. Stage Two needs to be completed once you arrive, which will give you access to any online sessions and your student loan.

Are you familiar with your Induction timetable?
Your Induction timetable tells you what you’re doing and where you need to be during your first week at EHU. You can view yours on your applicants’ page.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
As part of your Induction Week, you need to register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to help enhance the security and protection of your Edge Hill IT account. Once registered, you’ll receive instructions to guide you through installing and configuring the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Get involved in Student Life
Our Student Life Team have a bunch of events planned in and around your academic timetable during Induction Week for you to socialise, meet new people, switch off for a little while from your studies, and enjoy life on campus.

Share your ideas, find out more about upcoming events and opportunities, and discover how to get involved in student life. We’ll have freebies and giveaways available throughout the pop-up, so be sure to stop by!. |
| Wednesday 16 September | Connections Fair | 10-2.30pm | Rooms 8 & 9 Come and meet the Student Life team at the Connections Fair. Find out about our upcoming events, activities and opportunities, learn about the support available on campus, and discover how you can make the most of your university experience. |
| Monday 14 – Friday 18 September | Breakfast Station | 8.30-9.30am | Student Common Room Come in and grab a hot drink and breakfast biscuit to kick-start your day. Communal Space | 12 – 1.15pm | Student Common Room Play games, share stories and meet other students across the campus. |
You can also view the Student Life Portal, for all events happening on and off campus throughout the year. Log in with your student account once it is set up and start browsing & booking.
During regular term time, the Student Life team have a regular presence in the Student Common Room. You will frequently find Campus Connectors (students in purple) running events and they are happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.
Your Students’ Union
Your EHSU is here to support you throughout your University journey. Tell them your ideas, your issues, vote for the students you want to represent you, or run for a role yourself. Giving you the power to continually improve Edge Hill.
Although the Students’ Union is based on the main campus in Ormskirk, they offer a number of services to the Manchester campus remotely.
Advice
The Edge Hill Students’ Advice Team provides free independent, confidential and expert advice for Edge Hill students. You can book an appointment via telephone or video call. EHSU can support with a number of issues including academic problems, housing and landlords, exams, mental health support and more. The Students’ Union are independent from the University, which means our advice is completely unbiased.
Societies
Joining or creating a society is the best way to find new friends and discover a new passion away from your studies. Looking to make new friends in the big city? Why not start a society for you and other Manchester Campus students?
Societies are completely student-run and facilitated by your Students’ Union. EHSU can support you in organising trips, activities, workshops and more. Whether you’re into politics, music, academia or board games, there is a society for everybody. Don’t hesitate to start the process to setup a society if you’re a Manchester student.
Catalyst support
The Catalyst Support Toolkit will give you a condensed overview of all the support available to you, including:

- Find your community and connect through events and activities.
- Develop skills, confidence and academic success.
- Prepare for your future with careers, skills and opportunities.
It’s available 365 days a year, so you can revisit whenever you need.

The online Induction Helpdesk is available for you to access as you start your university journey.
Catalyst Helpdesk Team
The Catalyst Helpdesk Team are there to answer questions about most aspects of university life. So it’s a great place to go if you’re unsure about who to speak to. Even if it feels like you have a silly question, it will probably have been asked before.

Wellbeing
Appointments will be offered every Thursday between 10am and 4pm. Please email Student Wellbeing to book.
Student Support, Money Advice and Inclusion
Support is available from Student Services virtually and face-to-face appointments are available on request. Student Services will also be at Induction, Welcome Fairs and other events throughout the year.
