The role of the International Office

Four people are sat on a bench on the Edge Hill University campus. Three of the people are looking at the other person who is wearing a purple high-vis jacket and talking to the group of people.

Alongside general queries and enquiries the International office can help students with general support.

Some things we can help you and your student with are:

  • Opening a bank account.
  • Obtaining a letter to confirm they are enrolled as a student at Edge Hill University.
  • Travel and country information and advice.
  • Visa and immigration advice.
  • Urgent phone calls to family, home or bank back home.
  • If they are feeling unwell or homesick and want to talk to someone.

Finding a job

In this image there is a careers fair taking place on the Edge Hill University campus. This image focuses on one student talking to an employer.

We apply real world knowledge and research to our teaching. We aim to educate our students to know what employers are looking for in competitive job markets. Our approach is to help students to discover their strengths and skills, understanding how to showcase these in their future career path.

To showcase this, 95.6% of our students employed or in further study within 15 months of graduating (Graduate Outcomes data released 2023).

As well as ensuring you graduate with excellent career prospects, there are several ways that you may be able to gain experience outside of the University while you study, some of which may allow you to earn money. The type of Visa you hold may affect your ability to take paid or voluntary work while in the UK.

Edge Hill is situated in the heart of the North West of England, close to the thriving market town of Ormskirk and the vibrant cities of Liverpool and Manchester.

Ormskirk

Edge Hill University is a 15 minute walk from the historic market town centre of Ormskirk. Set on a beautiful campus but walking distance to a town centre with a growing nightlife, Edge Hill represents the best of both worlds. The town has several historic landmarks including the Gothic-style Grade II listed Clock Tower erected in 1876, and the Church of St Peter and St Paul dating from around the 12th Century, one of only three in England to include both a central spire and a western tower, and unique to the North West.

More information on Ormskirk and its amenities can be found on the Discover Ormskirk website.
