Who we are and what we do
The Language Centre is part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and is located in the Learning Innovation Centre (LInC building). You will find a welcoming, friendly and exceptionally supportive environment here in which to study. We are a growing department, represented by dedicated language tutors and staff, always willing to cater to your individual language needs, whether English is your first language or not. We believe firmly that speaking a second language is an impressive and valued life skill which will set you apart from other graduates and provide you with unique and notable qualities. Our passion for language development is always evident, and whatever your needs, our willing and flexible team will always be on hand to help you achieve your language goals.
How we can help you
Our aim is to provide all the support you need to develop your language skills whether English is your first language or not.
If English is not your first language, we offer a number of English language programmes ranging from those aimed at preparing students for further academic study, to our English Language Development programme which combines aspects of British culture.
If English is your first language, we offer academic credit-bearing modules in French, Spanish and Mandarin which you can incorporate into your degree, as well as casual evening courses open to students, staff and the community.
If you are seeking something bespoke, please also get in touch so we can guide you on how we can accommodate your needs.
You will find lots of information on the courses, services and support we offer on these pages.
