The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and puts Edge Hill’s campus alongside some of the best green spaces and parks in the UK.
This achievement is thanks to the dedication of Edge Hill’s Facilities Management (FM) Team, which has worked hard in all weathers to maintain the 160-acre campus to the highest standards, providing a beautiful space for students, staff and the public to enjoy.
Grounds Manager Neil Toner said: “Securing this award for the 13th time is a remarkable milestone that showcases the unwavering commitment and hard work of our entire FM team.
“Being recognised as one of the nation’s top green spaces for over a dozen years is truly a phenomenal accomplishment.
“From the serene lakes and intricate rock garden to the vibrant flower beds and expansive open areas, we take great pride in crafting spaces where people can unwind and enjoy a few peaceful moments in nature.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every team member for their dedication to maintaining our campus and earning this esteemed award once again.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Edge Hill University on achieving a Green Flag Award.
“Edge Hill University is a vital green space for students, staff, visitors and communities to socialise and to enjoy nature, and it provides important opportunities to improve their physical and mental health.
“We know that the grounds team work tirelessly to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
