Diagnosis and screening
We do not carry out Autism or other diagnosis assessments at Edge Hill University where the route to diagnosis is via the National Health Service. Students who are looking to explore a diagnosis of Autism should be directed to their GP for initial discussions. It may be that a working diagnosis can be made which will support student to access Disabled Students Allowance, (DSA).
Students can ask a medical professional to complete a disability evidence form if they have a working diagnosis and they can use this to support an application for Disabled Students Allowance.
The Inclusion Team will always aim to provide academic support to students who are waiting for any sort of diagnosis. We can make suggestions about reasonable adjustments, the potential for exam modifications and with the provision of a Welcome Appointment to discuss learning needs and to produce a Student Support Plan.
For students who are looking to explore a diagnosis of Dyslexia or Dyspraxia the SpLD Team can provide advice and academic support.
