An adviser is available for drop-in sessions in Careers Corner, Catalyst from 11am – 3pm on weekdays, during teaching weeks. In assessment and vacation periods the times are 11am – 1pm. No appointment in advance is necessary, simply turn up.

Get your CV or cover letter checked
Would you like to receive fast, detailed feedback on your CV or cover letter? CareerSet is an online platform that gives you actionable, personalised feedback on your CV and cover letter in an instant, 24/7.
To log in, go to CareerSet and click on ‘student login’, then enter your EHU email address. A link will be sent to your EHU email account giving you access to the platform. Remember when you submit your CV it needs to be in PDF format.

If you want to talk directly with a member of the Careers team, we would love to meet with you. We are available in Careers Corner, Catalyst, on weekdays between 11am and 3pm term time, reducing to 11am-1pm during quieter times. You can discuss ad-hoc queries, or you can book an appointment with us in advance. See the different appointment types we have available below.
Most of our appointments are available either in-person, over Microsoft Teams or as a phone call. When you book an appointment, you will have the option to select the format in the booking form you complete. Following the appointment you will receive an email, which will contain feedback if provided. This might be in written, video or audio format, the information is also accessible direct from your Careers Portal account.
Careers Corner drop-in
Call into our new Careers Corner in Catalyst where you can ask an Advisor a quick question without needing to book an appointment. Careers Corner, Catalyst is open from 11am – 3pm on weekdays, during teaching weeks. In assessment and vacation periods the times are 11am – 1pm. No appointment in advance is necessary, simply turn up.

These 20-minute appointments are designed to help you get started with a range of career topics. You can choose from:

Get ahead appointment
In addition to our standard appointment types, students who identify with one or more of the Thrive characteristics can have exclusive access to ‘Get Ahead’ appointments. Here you can discuss additional career topics that may concern you so that you can get the support that you need to reach your goals. ‘Get Ahead’ appointments are 30 minutes long where we can discuss additional career topics that may concern you. This also includes the offer of more intensive 1-to-1 support for things like writing your CV, disclosing disabilities during the application process, finding appropriate part-time work and supporting you to apply for those roles.
Work experience and placement support appointments
These 30-minute appointments are designed to help you with work-related queries and available opportunities including self-sourced placements, DBS queries and bespoke generated opportunities.
Careers guidance appointments
Following a ‘getting started with’ appointment, your adviser might recommend that they book you in for one of these appointments. This guidance appointment will be up to 45-minutes long and the Careers Adviser will be able to have an in-depth conversation with you about the options you have with your degree, planning your future career and options for further study, including PG study.
Mock interview appointments
Build your confidence and practice in advance of the real thing. In these appointments, you can practice your skills in a mock interview. Questions will be asked as though they were part of an interview followed by a discussion about your performance.
You will be asked three or four competency-based questions to check out your interviewing abilities. This is a safe environment to practice in and you will receive some feedback there and then for future improvements.
The questions are not job-specific and will be based on skills widely considered key skills graduate employers are looking for.
Recent Edge Hill graduates
If you have graduated from Edge Hill within the last three years, you can access the same expert advice and guidance from Careers as a current student. Careers advice for staff
As a member of Edge Hill staff, you can use our ‘Ask a Question’ service to receive confidential online guidance or book a one-to-one career guidance appointment. At the current time, we are unable to prioritise staff members as we are very busy supporting our students and recent graduates. We expect to be able to offer this service again shortly.
