Who we are – Dean’s Welcome
Welcome to the Faculty of Education at Edge Hill University!
We have been educating the teaching and education workforce for almost 140 years. Our vision of ‘working creatively with others to enhance life chances’ is at the heart of who we are as a working family. We focus relentlessly on harnessing the power of education to transform lives, every day, in everything we do with our students and strategic partners.
The faculty is one of the largest Initial Teacher Education providers in the country and in March 2024, we became the first higher education institution in England to be rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in all three teacher education phases.

Our core themes
We are a diverse, publicly engaged, collaborative team with an international reputation for developing and implementing impactful research, knowledge exchange, and continuing professional development. This multi-award-winning work addresses our five core Faculty themes:

Our Strategic Partnership Board
Hear from the Chair of our Strategic Partnership Board:
As alumni of Edge Hill University, I am proud to Chair the Strategic Partnership Board. This role represents a unique opportunity to work collaboratively and alongside an institution that shaped my own journey. Our Board comprises of educational leaders from across the partnership, bringing a wealth of expertise across all phases of education provision. This collective expertise positions us to provide valuable insight, advise on faculty activities, and identify opportunities for collaboration and synergy that will strengthen our shared commitment to excellence in education. It is an honour to work with colleagues to ensure that our future teachers and leaders are fully equipped to ensure the very best quality to support our children and young people on their own journey.
