Our marketing degree covers the entire process from initial product design through to launch and promotion. An exciting mix of creativity, theory, analysis and planning, this course offers unique insights into this integral part of business.

Interested in why some products take off while others flop? Curious how brands manage their image in the digital age? You’ll deepen your understanding and hone your marketing skills before applying them in practice across a range of industries.

We’ll teach you how to make product offerings irresistible to customers and what goes into producing effective promotional campaigns. Consumers are under the spotlight too as we dig into what drives their behaviour and purchase decisions.

Release your inner entrepreneur and find out what goes into running a business on our optional Graduate Enterprise module. You’ll set up a company with your peers, taking on the challenge of marketing and promotion.

By completing this course marketing degree, if you’d like to further your studies with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, you’ll have less assessments after earning exemption with us.

What you'll study

Year 1 combines academic and practical learning and sets the scene with central marketing philosophies. We’ll introduce you to the marketing mix and other key theories you’ll need at Edge Hill and beyond. Then choose from optional modules to get tools that bolster creative thinking in contemporary business or look back at the history of advertising and the influences from society.

In the second year we’ll start to put Year 1 theories into practice. There’s a specific focus on digital media and you’ll examine the role marketing plays in brand building. You’ll get real-world experience, choosing between a work placement or creating a start-up with your course mates in the Graduate Enterprise module.

Polishing your strategic skills, Year 3 focuses on applying your marketing know-how. In groups you’ll take part in an online marketing simulation to show the impact of the decisions you’ll make using market analysis and company data. You’ll also choose between a dissertation or undertaking an in-depth research project for a sponsoring company. Explore optional modules such as Global Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Business Strategy and Digital Goods.

Where your course includes optional modules, these are to provide an element of choice within the course curriculum. How you'll study

You will have access to excellent facilities and resources, with extensive use of information technology to support your learning. Coursework may comprise individual and group work, case studies and problem-solving exercises.

You will have the opportunity to develop your employability profile through a work placement or participation in a graduate enterprise project.

By taking part in these activities you will gain an enriched understanding of the complexities of European culture, a greater awareness of your communication abilities and significantly enhanced marketing skills.

Timetables for your first week are normally available at the end of August prior to enrolment in September. You can expect to receive your timetable for the rest of the academic year during your first week. Please note that while we make every effort to ensure that timetables are as student-friendly as possible, scheduled teaching can take place on any day of the week. Wednesday afternoons are normally reserved for sports and cultural activities.

How you'll be assessed

The combination of assessments considers vocational capability, academic critical thinking and intellectual development. Examinations may take different forms, using both seen and unseen questions, and be closed or open book. Case studies and problem-solving exercises may also be used.

Typical offer 112-120 UCAS Tariff points. No specific subjects are required.

T Level Overall grade of Merit.
International Baccalaureate (IB) We are happy to accept IB qualifications which achieve the required number of UCAS Tariff points.
Access to Higher Education Diploma 45 credits at Level 3, for example 15 credits at Distinction and 30 credits at Merit or 24 credits at Distinction and 21 credits at Merit. The required total can be attained from various credit combinations.

Please note, the above examples may differ from actual offers made. A combination of A Level and BTEC awards may also be accepted.

If you have a minimum of two A Levels (or equivalent), there is no maximum number of qualifications that we will accept UCAS points from. This includes additional qualifications such as Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), AS Levels that haven't been continued to A Level, and General Studies AS or A Level awards.

English language requirements

International students require IELTS 6.0, with a score no lower than 5.5 in each individual component, or an equivalent English language qualification.

If your current level of English is half a band, one band, or one-and-a-half bands lower, either overall or in one or two elements, you may want to consider our Pre-Sessional English course.

Edge Hill Business School.A stunning £8m building provides impressive teaching and learning facilities for marketing degree students in Edge Hill Business School.

The contemporary three-storey building offers a 100-seat lecture theatre and modern seminar and meeting rooms. There are also social learning areas which encourage a more informal and interactive style of learning, in addition to an attractive roof garden and atrium.

The University may administer a small inflationary rise in tuition fees, in line with Government policy, in subsequent academic years as you progress through the course.

EU/EEA and Swiss students who have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, as well as Irish nationals, may be eligible for the UK tuition fee rate.

Financial support

Subject to eligibility, UK students joining this course can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan from the Government to cover the full cost of tuition fees. UK students enrolling on the course may also be eligible to apply for additional funding to help with living costs.

Your future career

The future for Edge Hill marketing graduates is varied and exciting. Past years have seen students working for private sector enterprises, but more recently that’s widened to diverse industries such as retail, fashion, manufacturing, leisure and tourism and consumer goods. Some students may want to further their studies with a Masters or PGCE.

After completing our marketing degree, there’s plenty of career paths to choose from including promotions, marketing management, digital marketing and teaching. We’ve seen graduates find roles in Jaguar Land Rover, Vodafone, BT and Panasonic. Typical roles to look out for include:

A professionally recognised degree

Edge Hill’s marketing degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the leading professional body for marketers worldwide. This accreditation enables you to gain exemptions towards selected modules on CIM qualifications available through the Graduate Gateway. You can sit the remaining CIM modules alongside your degree or within three years of graduating. Further information about the Graduate Gateway is available at www.cim.co.uk/qualifications/graduate-gateway.

You will also gain affiliate membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), a globally recognised professional body, for the duration of your marketing degree and one additional year after graduation. You will then have the option to renew your affiliate membership on an annual basis, however this would be at your own expense. The CMI is dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. Membership entitles you to full access to ManagementDirect, an extensive online portal that provides invaluable careers information, course-based resources and advice on best practice.

On successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership alongside your degree.
