Discover Policing and Criminal Justice

Congratulations on your offer

We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Policing and Criminal Justice courses. As part of the School of Law and Criminal Justice, you’ll have the opportunity to study in a dynamic, relevant and professionally informed manner and in an engaging and supportive environment. Our teaching and student learning are informed by our cutting-edge, internationally recognised legal research.

Explore the criminal justice system, crime scene investigation, cybercrime and the treatment of offenders.

Joining our Policing and Criminal Justice programmes means you’re embarking on an immersive learning experience, with opportunities to put your learning into practice in our on-campus Moot Court Room.

Facilities

The £6m Law and Psychology building provides contemporary teaching and learning facilities for students in the School of Law and Criminal Justice.

The three-storey building includes a 265-seat lecture theatre, seminar and tutorial rooms, and social learning areas which encourage a more informal and interactive style of learning.

It is also where our moot courtroom and law clinic are located. Law, Policing and Criminal Justice students can train and practice their advocacy skills and cross-examination techniques as well as preparing for giving evidence in court.

Prepare for your studies

Before starting your studies, you could:

  • Keep up to date with current affairs. Try news websites and documentaries.
  • Consider volunteering for a group that reflects your subject of interest
  • See your subject in action – watch a Magistrates’, Country or Crown Court case from the public gallery
Students hone their interrogation skills in the EHU Police Training and Simulation Facility.

Supporting you

When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

Meet our students

Come and join us in a dynamic and supportive environment of high-quality scholars and students. Hear from our students about what they have got up to on their degree, what facilities are available and what being an Edge Hill student is really like.

Headshot of Kira Roberts

When I started my placement at Wigan Council with the Antisocial Behaviour Engagement Team, I had no idea it would result in a part-time offer of employment. I can only thank the Work-Related Learning Team for their help and support with securing my placement.

I really value how often we get to hear from guest speakers. Whether that is people who are in the job (Police Officers, CSI, Detectives), or those that have been impacted by crime, it adds a whole new layer of depth and realism to what we’re studying.”
