Kira Roberts

BSc (Hons) Professional Policing

Headshot of Kira Roberts

When I started my placement at Wigan Council with the Antisocial Behaviour Engagement Team, I had no idea it would result in a part-time offer of employment. I can only thank the Work-Related Learning Team for their help and support with securing my placement.

Developing my professional skill set
The Antisocial Behaviour Engagement team at Wigan Council effectively deal with complaints from residents regarding unacceptable behaviour in the community.
Kira’s role of Youth Mentor was applied to the World Experience module as part of her Professional Policing degree. Kira coordinated strategies to support young people experiencing difficulties; her planning was implemented to prevent vulnerable people taking risks. Kira also received specialist training on placement, enabling her to apply practical knowledge to studies.

Due to a continued display of hard work, Kira secured part-time employment with Wigan Council. Her employment with Wigan Council continues to positively impact her studies on a postgraduate degree.

Kira secured part-time employment as a result of a successful placement with Wigan Council.

“Kira has demonstrated the ability to be a caring, empathic person and an understanding individual, who has been able to balance the needs of young people to keep them safe and reduce risks, whilst meeting the needs of people affected by ASB.”
