Edge Hill University Policing Society (EHUPS)

Sharing a passion for your subject with fellow students, building your professional network, knowing who to ask for support and celebrating successes as a group are just a few of the reasons why student led societies are so great.

One of the academic societies that you can get involved with as an Edge Hill student is our Policing Society. Find out a little bit about what they have to offer, and hear from Dave Newbury, society president about why they love being involved.

The aim of EHUPS is to bring policing students together, with the hope of getting as many students involved as possible. With special events organised, including guest speakers and social occasions, the society encourages students to make the most of their Edge Hill University experience by meeting people with a shared passion for policing.

What our policing society has to offer:

  • Class representatives
  • Social events
  • Careers networking events
  • End of Year Awards Dinner
  • Mentoring
  • Student led mentoring
  • Expert guest speakers

Dave Newbury, society president, tells us what makes being involved with society so worthwhile:

As President of the policing society, I am involved in organising events and networking for all EHU policing students. I’ve worked with other committee members to introduce informal mentoring and study sessions to advise students from all year groups and offer support.

Helping to organise events such as the annual Policing Awards Evening has been a personal highlight. This event celebrates the academic achievements of students across each year of study, and allows students to network with senior police officers and police professionals from prospective employers.

The policing society is a fantastic opportunity to become more engaged with the course and get to know people from all years of study. Aside from the networking opportunities, it is a fantastic opportunity to improve your employability, especially if you can volunteer to help with the running of the society.
