Discover Early Years Education

Congratulations on your offer

We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Early Years Education courses. Our overarching vision is to raise the status and quality of the early years workforce. When you study at Edge Hill, you’ll join a forward-thinking community, where you’ll find your people, develop your passions and leave your mark. We’ve recently been awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted across all three initial teacher training age phases. So you’ll have the highest quality preparation and support, whether you’re aspiring to teach in a primary or secondary setting or stepping into a further education college.

Starting this new chapter in your life can be quite daunting, so we have collated the information on this page to give you an insight into the exciting community you’ll be joining. From the student experience to what’s on at Edge Hill, discover what life will be like as a student in the Faculty of Education.

Faculty of Education (Lakeside)

Your department is located in the state-of-the-art Faculty of Education (Lakeside) building, overlooking a picturesque lake, forming the centre piece of our western campus and the hub of our teaching activity.

Our Lakeside building features a 300-seat lecture theatre, five well-equipped ICT suites and 18 further teaching rooms complete with the very latest technology, plus a popular café, where students meet to socialise and discuss their studies.

Prepare your studies

Before starting your studies, you could:

Supporting you

When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

Meet our students

Everything you need is right here, on campus. From our 24/7 library, Catalyst, also home to our support teams, to numerous coffee shops and social spaces – even your very own bar and theatre. It’s all well and good hearing it from us, but what do our students have to say?

Ruben Smith - Education with QTS

The best thing about Edge Hill University to me is the community. The University is really supportive, from my department, the inclusion team right to the student union.

I had never gone to university before and had several years away from education, but my tutors at Edge Hill were very supportive from the start.
