The staff who will be teaching you, and those who will support you throughout your operating department practice or paramedic practice studies, are on hand to answer any questions.

Attend an open day at Manchester St James’

If you’re looking to study operating department practice or paramedic practice at St James’ in Manchester, we offer open day events for you to get to know the campus and facilities.

Open days at our St James’ site in Manchester will be held in November and December. Bookings will open nearer the time.

What to expect on the day

You will be able to talk to tutors, chat to current students, and take a tour of the clinical skills simulation suite.

Guided tours will take place after each subject presentation.

Our facilities in Manchester include:

  • a mock operating theatre
  • simulated ambulance bay
  • clinical skills stations

By joining our BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice degree you will train to provide high standards of care during the anaesthetic, surgical and recovery phases of hospital patients’ treatment.

Enrolling on our BSc (Hons) Paramedic Practice degree will enable you to study to the clinical, professional and academic standards required to become a paramedic.

Paramedic Practice is available to study at St James’, but you’ll also need to attend our campus in Ormskirk for a variety of sessions.

You can apply to study Operating Department Practice at the Edge Hill University campus or St James’. Both courses also involve placements across Greater Manchester and the North West of England. We’ll try, where possible, to place you in a Trust near to where you live.
