Edge Hill University celebrates excellent results in latest National Student Survey

July 9, 2026

Edge Hill University has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience, securing strong results in the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS).

Students taking part in the UK-wide survey, led by Office for Students, scored Edge Hill highly for student voice, learning resources and assessment and feedback, placing the University higher than the sector average in these categories.

Within the North West, Edge Hill University ranked first for learning resources, second for student voice and third for freedom of expression. In the UK, the university ranked fourth for learning resources.

Professor Kurt Allman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are all thrilled by this year’s NSS results. They are clear evidence of how committed we are to providing the best possible experience for students.

“I’d like to thank all our colleagues for continuing to place student development and wellbeing at the centre of their efforts, this is a wonderful reward for them to know their hard work is having an impact in such a meaningful way.”

Edge Hill’s success in the 2026 National Student Survey is the result of a university-wide effort, with teams from all departments – ranging from frontline, student facing roles through to senior leadership – listening carefully to student feedback and encouraging participation in the NSS.

The NSS asks final-year undergraduates for their feedback on key aspects of the student journey, including learning opportunities, academic support, freedom of expression and overall satisfaction.

Edge Hill continually seeks student input through its internal Student Voice Surveys, using this feedback to enhance courses, facilities and support services.

Degree programmes which students rated most highly include:

  • Medical sciences – top ten in the UK and second in the North West for learning resources.
  • Business and management – second in the UK for learning resources; UK top ten for academic support, and assessment and feedback; first in the North West for assessment and feedback, and learning resources; top three in the NW for teaching, academic support, organisation and management, and student voice.
