Careers Fair Success Leads to Graduate Roles for Business School Students

Three Edge Hill University Business School students have secured graduate roles with car finance company Zuto after making a direct connection with the employer at the Business School’s annual Careers Fair.

The students, who are due to graduate in 2026, will join Zuto this summer as Graduate Sales Executives after impressing the company throughout its recruitment process. All three first met the Zuto team at the Business School’s Careers Fair in February 2026, where they had the opportunity to speak directly with recruiters, learn about the business, and explore the roles on offer.

The annual Careers Fair brought together employers from a range of sectors to connect with Business School students and graduates, helping them explore career pathways, placement opportunities and graduate roles. The event forms part of the Business School’s wider employability programme, designed to give students direct access to industry professionals and practical insight into the graduate recruitment process.

Although the three appointments with Zuto were among the standout success stories from the event, they were not the only positive outcomes for students who attended. Other students also made valuable employer connections that supported their graduate career plans.

Ffion Schofield, a BSc Business Management student, connected with Enterprise Mobility at the event and later secured a graduate role as Operations Management Trainee with the company. After attending the fair, Ffion progressed through the recruitment process and will begin her role following graduation.

“Attending the careers fair was a really valuable part of my job search. It gave me the chance to speak directly with employers, learn more about different graduate opportunities, and build confidence when networking.

One thing I found especially helpful was preparing a few questions beforehand and taking the time to research companies I was interested in. It made conversations feel more natural and helped me stand out to employers. My advice to students attending future fairs would be to stay open-minded, be proactive in approaching employers, and not be afraid to introduce yourself — even a short conversation can lead to useful opportunities and connections.”

– Ffion Schofield

For many students, careers fairs provide an important first step into conversations with employers. They offer opportunities to build confidence, develop professional networks, and gain a clearer understanding of the career pathways available after graduation. In several cases, students were able to move from initial conversations at the fair to applications and interviews within a matter of weeks.

These outcomes reflect the Business School’s commitment to preparing students for the world of work. Through employer partnerships, careers events, and personalised employability support, students are able to develop the skills, confidence and professional networks they need to move into graduate employment.

Dr Helen Eccleston, Associate Director for Student Success at Edge Hill University Business School, said:

“What makes the difference for our students is that employability support at the Business School is not one-size-fits-all. Every student has access to personalised guidance that is tailored to their ambitions, their strengths, and the sector they want to work in. Whether that is one-to-one career coaching, help preparing for interviews, or introductions to employers through events like our Careers Fair, we work closely with each student to make sure they are ready to compete for the roles they want. Stories like these show what becomes possible when students engage with the support that is available to them.”

The success stories emerging from this year’s Careers Fair highlight the value of giving students meaningful opportunities to engage directly with employers before they graduate. By combining academic study with practical employability support and industry connections, the Business School continues to help students take confident steps towards their future careers.
