Annual School Careers Fair
Grow your network and build connections with our specialist, dedicated School of Law and Criminal Justice Careers Fair. Each year we run careers fairs so you can connect with employers and find out about opportunities and placements on offer. It is your opportunity to network with employers, gain a better understanding of potential career pathways and develop your graduate attributes such as networking, communicating and professionalism.
Our fairs welcome employers from the legal and criminal justice sectors plus Edge Hill University teams such as the careers team, postgraduate team and the student life interview clothing collection. Recent employers at our careers fair have included:
Law student, Evelyn attended one of our recent careers fairs and then secured work experience with Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors
“The career’s fair was one of the first opportunities the cohort had to really interact with potential future employers and allowed students to get a feel for what different career paths entailed. There were so many great companies involved who were more than happy to share their time and experiences, really making the event so insightful. I would encourage any student, regardless of whether you know what you want out of your future or not, to attend these events.
As a first year, knowing what steps to take to better my employability seemed quite daunting; the careers fair gave me invaluable advice and the opportunity to undergo a work placement with Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors. Having the opportunity to showcase myself to them and really understand what they were looking for helped immensely with my application. Without this event, I would have never been able to procure such an experience.”

Work Placements
Whether taken as part of our work placement modules or as an extra-curricular activity, there are excellent opportunities to undertake work experience in the School of Law and Criminal Justice. Securing work experience during your time at university is crucial to ensuring that you stand out to employers, gain transferable skills and build your confidence within the workplace. If you already have some career ideas, the next step will be to develop your skills and gain some experience to build your confidence and increase your knowledge. You may want to consider volunteering, part-time work or undertaking a placement to increase your chances of gaining graduate employment after completing your degree. It’s also a great way to try-out career paths to see what you enjoy and if it’s a good fit for you.
Anya Kilgallon is studying LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology and recently completed a placement with Stephensons Solicitors
“During my placement at Stephensons Solicitors, I developed a good understanding on how an interventions team operate and the important role the Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority play in maintaining professional standards in the legal sector. I developed interpersonal skills since working at Stephensons; the team were so welcoming. Stephensons Solicitors have a variety of departments at the Wigan office, and by being part of the interventions team, I have gained an insight into the work of solicitors in other departments. This placement provided the opportunity to continue working with this firm as a paid employee. I hope that this opportunity will clarify the area of law I would like to consider for my future career, whilst gaining valuable experience as I continue to study.”
