

Professor John Sandars (Lead)
John is Professor of Medical Education and was previously Professor at the University of Sheffield. He has a clinical background as a general practitioner.
His main focus of research is developing the individual potential and performance of health professionals across the continuum of medical education, from undergraduate to continuing. His approach is multi-disciplinary and collaborative, with national and international researchers. He also has a special interest in applying insights from health profession education into the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical and health service interventions, including the application of self-regulated learning and metacognition theories, and the evaluation of complex teaching and training interventions.

Professor Jeremy Brown
Jeremy is Professor of Clinical Education in the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine at Edge Hill University and his main interests are in applied research and evaluation in education, training and development of all health professionals (undergraduate and postgraduate).

Dr June Jones
June is Senior Lecturer in Professional Ethics and Law in the Medical School. Her research interests focus on the development of professional identity, the foundation of moral values within the medical profession and the role that diversity and inclusivity play. She has a special interest in the exercise of conscientious objection and its impact on team work. She is also passionate about identifying activities and learning opportunities which help to develop belongingness and confidence in developing doctors. She is a member of the Senior Academic Leadership team of the Medical School, as Senior Academic Lead for Student Wellbeing and Support. She is also Professional Ethics and Law theme lead for the pre-registration Medical School. She is also Deputy Disability Lead, & Electives Project Lead.

Professor Axel Kaehne
Axel is Professor of Health Service Research at Edge Hill University Medical School, Director of the Evaluation and Policy Analysis unit (EPA) and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Integrated Care and the Journal of Health Organization and Management. Axel is also Visiting Professor at the Department of Health and Social Management at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio.

Dr Peter Leadbetter
Peter is a Senior Lecturer and Senior Learning & Teaching Fellow (Reader in T&L) in the School of Medicine at Edge Hill University. He is programme lead for the Foundation Year to Medicine (a Widening Access initiative) that is underpinned by a philosophy of inclusivity, community engagement, widening participation and social accountability. He has won various awards for his work in widening participation to medicine including the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) New Leaders Award, and a National Teaching Fellowship with Advance HE.

Jacqueline is Professor of Nursing and Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education in the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine at Edge Hill University. Jacqueline brings significant experience in developing and evaluating innovative approaches to teaching and learning that meets workforce needs in nursing, health, and social care. Jackie’s expertise in nurse education practice is recognised at the highest level receiving multiple learning and teaching awards including Advance HE Principal Fellow, National Teaching Fellow, Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence.

Dr Ciaran Murphy
Dr Ciarán Murphy is Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Edge Hill University’s Department of Social Work and Wellbeing. He is a qualified and registered social worker, having specialised in child care/protection.
