Animation

“The highlight of my time at Edge Hill has been a trip to Portugal to work on a series of animated short films about Lisbon that were showcased during the Society of Animation Studies (SAS) annual conference. It was fantastic to explore a new city in a creative way.”

Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre

“The Drama degree has been so much better than I imagined.

“I didn’t think I would be making props out of recycled materials or dyeing costumes with onions. Sustainable theatre was something I’d never had the chance to explore before.”

“I have met so many inspiring people, been exposed to so much and been offered so many opportunities that will shape my future as a dance artist.

“You can really immerse yourself in the subject and soak it all up. I’ve had some invaluable and exceptionally beneficial opportunities. I’ve worked with international choreographers and music professionals, performed at festivals and events across the country, and appeared in a couple of music videos. I’ve also worked with several artists around the North West, including Liverpool band Stealing Sheep, on a female-only piece to celebrate 100 years of women’s right to vote in the UK.”

Film, Media and Television

“One of my tutors knew I was interested in radio so when the politics reporter from BBC Radio Lancashire was visiting the University, she asked me if I’d like to show him around. From chatting to him, I was able to get a meeting with the managing director, and from there I managed to get a work placement.

“I learned so much from that experience that when Radio Lancashire launched a competition to find the next generation of presenters, I felt confident enough to apply. From hundreds of applicants, I made it to the final ten and got to present my own show.”

“The course has a very practical focus. You start from scratch, learning every aspect of production from the admin side to writing and camerawork.

“A member of staff told me about some work experience at Sky in London, so I applied and ended up doing a week’s work as part of their Women in Tech project. I learnt a lot about the technical side of how programmes get to your screen which, even though it wasn’t production as such, was a brilliant opportunity to look at a side of the media I hadn’t thought about before”

Music Production

“I never imagined that one day I’d be sitting in one of the country’s most famous studios, with a producer who had worked with Paul McCartney, mixing a track that I’d written in my bedroom!”
