Welcome to the Department of Psychology at Edge Hill University. Research facilities

Our brain-imaging research is supported by:

  • electroencephalography (EEG) system
  • brain stimulation (tDCS and TMS) devices
  • a functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system
  • four eye-tracking machines
  • three systems for recording physiological responses (BioPac)
  • a pain simulator (DS8R Digitimer Constant Current Stimulator)
  • a Human Tissue Lab

New equipment includes:

  • an observation suite
  • a virtual reality suite (Oculus Rift and HTC Vive Pro)
  • a 3D-printing lab (Ultimaker)
  • the ‘bar’ laboratory, which allows for the simulation of real-life drinking environments

You will be encouraged to use our research facilities throughout your course, and particularly in your final year dissertation projects.
