Induction Week 2024

The majority of our new undergraduate students start their Induction Week with us on Monday 30 September 2024. Welcome Weekend takes place on 28 and 29 September. Here, you can find some key information from Student Services to help you give them a warm welcome.

New students living on campus will move in over Welcome Weekend, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September. The weekend has been carefully planned to manage the flow of students and their families and give each new resident our full support and attention. Students will arrive during an allocated time-slot dedicated to their building to ensure they arrive alongside their new flatmates and neighbours.

There is plenty for students to get involved with including a Student Life Fair in the HUB from 10am-4pm and entertainment on the Boulevard to make it an enjoyable occasion. Campus Connectors will be visiting flats to check in with new students and will be available in the Hub from 9am-8pm both days to help students settle in.

If you have any queries about the event please contact the Student Life team.

International students

New International Students living on campus will move in on either Monday 23 or Tuesday 24 September. International orientation is on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 September and is arranged so they will be settled into their accommodation by Welcome Weekend to be able to join in the activities that are planned thereafter.

If you have any queries from international students please contact Kay Spears or Zelal-Ozkan Koca or find advice via our International Welcome Helpdesk in the Hub.

Induction Helpdesk

A pop-up Induction Helpdesk will be located in the Hub to support students and signpost to information, advice and guidance during Welcome Weekend, Induction Week and the first week of teaching.

The desk will operate 8.30am- 5pm from Saturday 28 September to Friday 4 October and from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 October.

An online ‘live chat’ Induction Helpdesk will also be available during these times and will be accessible to students via the Students’ Homepage and Induction webpages.

The Induction Helpdesk will be distributing induction helpdesk packs to buildings across campus. The Induction team will also be providing online induction helpdesk training for anyone who wishes to join. These sessions will be taking place on Tuesday 24 September at 11am and Thursday 26 September at 11am. To book onto the sessions please contact the Induction Week Team.

Enrolment

Online Enrolment continues to be in two stages.

  • Stage one is undertaken pre-arrival where students upload their Unicard photograph, provide identification and sign up to the University’s terms and conditions.
  • Stage two is confirmation of attendance on campus, using an EHU networked PC or the Eduroam network, and must be completed for students to access their course area on Blackboard. Completion of stage two also triggers the release of student loans.

Student guidance is available on the Enrolment webpages and a staff guide is included in your pack.

Unicards and lanyards

Non-residential students who have successfully completed stage one of enrolment on or before Thursday 26 September will receive their Unicards within their induction session, as noted within their induction timetables. Enrolment will ensure that Unicards are delivered to the designated rooms in time for the start of this session.

Any students who enrol after this can collect their Unicards from a pop-up stand situated outside the Student Administration building where help will also be available to troubleshoot enrolment queries.

All new students will receive a free purple EHU lanyard with their Unicard. There will be a limited number available from the Induction helpdesk if any new student loses theirs.

First-year undergraduate students should also have received a Welcome Box over the summer.  Students who accepted their offer late may not have received this and so can collect one from the Student Administration helpdesk.
