We understand that everyone’s journey to higher education is different, so we’ve got options available if you’ve not got the entry requirements for the course you want.

Fastrack

Running for over 25 years, this programme has helped many people return to academic study with confidence by training you in essential skills such as academic reading and writing, note-taking, revision techniques and an introduction to IT. This 7-week course is aimed at those who’ve been out of compulsory education for over 3 years, and who don’t have the relevant entry requirements for their course.

The course is completely free of charge and successful completion enables you to be considered for a place on an Edge Hill degree, subject to availability.

“Honestly the best thing I could have done to prepare me for this degree. A tough but really enjoyable seven weeks that helped me gain confidence, refresh skills and learn new ones I could take with me into first year and beyond.”

Kimberly Major, Fastrack student

Fair entry criteria

At Edge Hill, we believe in the transformative power of education to change lives, and we are committed to helping you achieve your potential.

We believe that all students should have a fair chance to come to university, no matter what their background or circumstances, and we understand that your predicted or achieved grades might not be a fair representation of your academic ability. If you meet our eligibility criteria, we may offer you a place with entry requirements lower than those advertised on our course pages.

Foundation courses

If you’re looking to join one of our undergraduate degrees, but don’t have the subject-specific entry requirements for direct entry, you may want to consider a foundation year. This allows you to develop the transferable skills and subject-specific knowledge to join selected degrees.

“Edge Hill stood out for me because of the foundation year for medicine, which really helped me get started on my career journey.”

Joshua Ballentine, Foundation student
