Here at Edge Hill, we want you to get the most out of your university experience. And that’s why we have so many dedicated teams across campus to help you do just that.

We realise that this year will have been different for each of you. But we wanted to remind you that you should be proud of all your accomplishments.

As we enter into the New Year, we want to remind you about the opportunities and initiatives available so you can reach your full potential. Clear your mind. Set your goals. And start 2026 motivated and ready. We have put together a list of New Year resolutions to inspire you, as well as how we can support you in completing them.

Improve your grades

Our UniSkills team is here to help you develop your academic skills and boost your confidence. From interactive workshops and handy online resources to friendly 1-to-1 support, you can access everything you need to thrive throughout the year.

Kick things off with New Year, New UniSkills. The annual campaign brought to you by UniSkills, helps you set fresh goals, spark positive study habits and start the year feeling energised and ready to go.

Plan a bright career

The Careers Team is your go-to for exploring your options, building your skills and landing a job you’ll love. You can book 1-2-1 appointments to talk about anything career-related, whether you’ve got your dream role all mapped out or you’re still figuring out what’s next. And remember, they’re not just there to help you find part-time work to top up your student budget. They can also support you in discovering internships, placements and graduate opportunities that can kick-start your future.

Whatever your goals, the Careers Team is here to help you shine and stand out from the crowd.

Learning a new language or consolidating your existing language skills is a great way to improve your communication skills, gain an insight into other cultures and prepare for time studying, travelling or working overseas.

Learn a new language

Looking to learn a new language without disrupting your study schedule? Our evening language courses are the perfect fit. Starting this January, you can sign up for An Introduction to French or Next Steps in Spanish through our continuing professional development webpage. Boost your skills, broaden your horizons and say bonjour or hola to a new adventure.

Improve your fitness and health

Hitting the gym isn’t just about fitness goals. It’s a great boost for your mental wellbeing too. And with our amazing discounted student membership at just £105 (covering January to August 2026), it’s never been easier to get moving. Enjoy full access to our newly upgraded Edge Hill Sport facilities and make the most of everything on offer, all for a fraction of the usual price.

Budget to save more money

We know that managing money as a student can feel a bit overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. At Edge Hill, our Money Advice team is here to help. From budgeting tips and support funds to scholarships and part-time job guidance, they’ll give you the tools you need to stress less and stay on top of your finances.

Broaden your horizons

The Thrive Fund is an exciting opportunity to boost your confidence, build new skills and take part in activities that elevate your employability. All without the financial worry. Eligible students can receive up to £2,000 to help with things like travel costs, creating professional or creative materials and much more. It’s your chance to grow, explore and thrive.

Get more involved in Student Life

Whether you fancy trying out bespoke sports and arts sessions, catching big-name performances at the Arts Centre, enjoying entertainment along the boulevard or joining in with our Campus Connector events. There’s always something happening on campus.

Open new doors

If you shine in something outside your studies, why not turn that talent into a Scholarship worth up to £2,000? We’ve previously awarded Excellence Scholarships to entrepreneurs, filmmakers, volunteers, knitters, performers, fundraisers, and many more incredible students. Not to mention our Sports Scholarships too. Whatever your passion, 2026 could be your year to apply.

Volunteer this year

Ever thought about giving volunteering a go? There are so many positive reasons to volunteer while you’re studying at Edge Hill. Not only is it incredibly rewarding, but it also gives you great practical experience that looks fantastic on your CV and helps you prepare for future careers. Ready to explore what’s out there? Go global

Dreaming of experiencing a new country and culture? Why not make it a reality. While studying at Edge Hill, you can spend a semester, or even a full year, studying abroad. Try a new hobby

There’s something for everyone at university. While it’s the perfect place to dive deeper into something you love, it’s also a great chance to discover a new passion. The easiest way to do that? Get involved with the Students’ Union.

With over 50 societies to choose from, there’s bound to be something that sparks your interest. Explore what’s on offer on the SU website, click ‘join’ on the ones you like. And just like that, you’ve found your next hobby.

Remember to be kind and flexible with yourself. Celebrate any (and all) progress you make. It’s not just the end goal that matters, it’s the journey along the way. And we’ll be with you every step of the way.
