You’ll be supported from the moment you enquire, with plenty of useful information and our friendly team will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.

To help international students considering studying at Edge Hill, we caught up with MA Marketing, Communications and Branding student, Jesuloba Owoeye, who shared her insights and tips for international students considering studying in the UK at Edge Hill University.

Consider the support available

“From the very beginning, I was taken aback by how responsive and supportive Edge Hill University is. Every email I sent was answered in record time, often within 12 hours. It felt like I was their only student. The staff? Phenomenal. Good listeners, deeply invested in your success, and genuinely rooting for you.

Every tool for success is laid out for you. Lecturers are always there to help and resources are available in abundance. Struggling with coursework? You can always seek help. You are given the blueprint, and all you have to do is build on it.

But the real game-changer for me was the Catalyst. That place is a powerhouse. As an international student, finding a part-time job is crucial, and the Catalyst team was instrumental in helping me secure one. Book an appointment with a student adviser—they will go through your CV with you. They can also help you prepare for interviews and even give you access to free interview outfits.”

Put yourself out there

“I understand that being in a new country can feel overwhelming, but you have to be audacious. Ask questions. No question is stupid. Speak up in class. Engage. Contribute. Make sure your lecturers know your name. Opportunities will chase you if you’re visible.

Edge Hill is buzzing with events, and I made sure to attend as many as possible. It was at one of these events that I discovered the Careers Fair, which led me to the Oracle Mentoring Service. It was through another that I landed a gig as a Barclays Brand Ambassador. Try new foods at the Global Cafés in The Hub. Attend career talks. Participate in student-run events. Every experience adds value to your time here.”

Be open to new experiences

“If you want to thrive, flexibility is key. Don’t cling too tightly to the life you left behind. Engage with new cultures. Don’t only stick to people who look like you. Try new foods. Explore new places. Adapt to the cold—buy the right clothes. You’re in a different world now, and the quicker you embrace it, the smoother your journey will be.”

Reach out when you need to

“Not every day will be sunshine and roses. There will be moments when things don’t go as planned and that’s okay. What matters is how you handle it. Cry if you must. Take a break. But don’t stay down. Speak to your friends and lean on your community—mine was my church, and they became family. And most importantly, seek help. There is support available for everything you need.”

Grab every opportunity

“This is your moment. The next few months or years will shape your life in ways you never imagined. Take risks, be bold, and soak up every experience. You’d be amazed at what you can achieve when you go all in. Keep an open mind, stay resilient, and remember—your best days are ahead. Make them count!”

Keep your eye on the big picture

“You are here for a reason. Beyond enjoying your time at university, what’s your plan? Where do you see yourself after graduation? Start preparing now by studying the job market and connecting with professionals on LinkedIn. Do internships. Take extra courses. The kind of company you keep matters—surround yourself with ambitious, hardworking people. Your circle influences your success more than you think.”

Choose Edge Hill University

“Edge Hill University is an experience, a place where opportunities are abundant and success is yours to claim. I often describe it as stepping into a high-end shopping store with an unlimited gift card—you can take as much as you want, but only if you actually reach out and grab it. Everything you need to thrive is right here, meticulously designed for your growth, but the onus is on you to make the most of it.

Then there’s the campus itself—an absolute masterpiece. The facilities at Edge Hill blew me away, the Catalyst, Creative Edge – every corner of this place radiates excellence. I stayed in Palatine Halls, and even the non-teaching staff made an impact on my experience. It felt like home.

And the Catalyst Library is hands down the best place to study. The atmosphere is pristine. The second and third floors are perfect for focused reading, and believe it or not, it was so picturesque that I even had my birthday photoshoot there.

To truly make the most of your time here, remember my Edge Hill Success code:
