Everything you need to know about living on-campus

If you’re considering living on campus, this guide will take you through everything you need to know.

Our accommodation is award-winning – 1st in the UK (Uni Compare 2025), Best Student Home (ASRA Awards 2024) and Best Value for Money UK & Ireland 2024 Global Student Living Awards, to name a few – and you’ll be in safe hands with our Accommodation and Student Life teams who work hard to ensure students get the best experience while living on campus.

You’re in the heart of our buzzing community

As an on-campus student, you’re at the heart of our campus community. You’re a stones throw away from calming green spaces, exciting nightlife in our SU and everything in between. Put simply, you’re perfectly placed to enjoy everything our stunning campus has to offer.

If you need to get on with work, you can head to the library with its peaceful study areas and use the range of resources available. Or if you’re looking to unwind, you can grab a coffee with your friends at one of the many cafes across campus. There’s also our Students’ Union bar and Arts Centre if you want to enjoy some entertainment.

The sports centre is also right here on campus, along with our trim trail and competition standard running track, so you don’t have to go far to stay healthy and enjoy some outdoor exercise too.

Whether you want a day filled with activity, or a chilled day with plenty of relaxation, the choice is yours.

“I usually go to the library in the evening to read as it’s a nice way to be in a different location rather than my room. Also, there is the gym which I either go to on my own or with some friends I also try and go to at least one exercise class a week as well. There is also the free film Fridays which show recent releases and also the Student Union isn’t just open for social nights they also have pool tables during the day.”

We’ll help you move in

Welcome Weekend is a highlight in our calendars – a chance to welcome new and returning students to campus and get them settled in to their new home. There are plenty of fun activities alongside support from staff and current students, who will help you settle in and feel at home.

We’ve got a dedicated helpdesk in the hub, and staff based at all of our halls to help you find your room (and even move your boxes in too!). There’s entertainment throughout the day, and Campus Connectors will be visiting flats to check in with new students so you won’t need to worry about those all important first days in your accommodation.

There’s also a full schedule of welcome events over your first few weeks, to ensure you have all the information and guidance you need and to help you settle in and enjoy this new stage in your life.

My move in experience was really good, we had staff members/volunteers help by driving our stuff right to the building, then help us carry it upstairs to my room. I also liked how the whole flat had the same move in time, which encouraged us to get talking immediately and we could all share the excitement of moving in.

You’ll be able to access support when you need it

We’re here to support you throughout your time at Edge Hill University. Whether that’s offering wellbeing guidance, money advice, or helping you deal with a difficult situation. Our residents can access support all year round from our dedicated teams.

There’s also security on site 24/7, so no matter what you need there’s always someone to contact if you have any issues or feel unsafe. Alongside this, our Facilities and Accommodation teams are friendly and approachable and you can contact them at any point with any maintenance or issues too.

We’re proud of our wrap-around support, and whatever you need during your time with us our staff will be able to point you in the right direction.

You can get involved in Student Life

Our Student Life Portal gives on-campus students access to everything that’s going on in one place, so you never miss a thing. From club nights in our SU to theatre performances and Free Film Fridays, there’s always something to do.

We’ve also got lots of groups and societies for you to get involved in, which are a great way to meet people with similar interests and make new friends. Our Campus Connectors are also on hand to help you settle in and make friends, and they can tell you about events and groups that might interest you.

We’re committed to ensuring that students have all the facilities necessary to enjoy a thriving social life alongside their studies and when you live on campus, you’re never far from the action.

Find out more

“The Student Life Portal is where you can find out about all the events at the University and surrounding areas. It’s really nice way to see all the things going on to ensure you don’t miss out on fun events and opportunities to meet people, as well as free trips! Things I’ve got involved with recently on the Student Life Portal on campus have been Paint and Sip, a trip to the Lake District and IKEA and a poetry slam held at the Arts Centre – but there is all sorts on there, there is defiantly something for everyone!”
