We’re proud of our multi-award winning accommodation which is right here on campus. Living here, you’ll always be just a few minutes from everything you need and will have access to all the support you need to settle into your home.

There’s a few things we recommend thinking about when you come to choosing whether to live on campus or not, and our team are always on hand to answer any questions you might have too.

Rent prices and value for money

The first thing on many people’s minds is the cost of university accommodation. This is one of the bigger expenses so understandably students want to get the most for their money.

We keep our rental prices low by managing all of our accommodation on site. This means we save money on management fees and can pass on these savings to our students. Our rents are highly competitive, and well below the national average – in 2023 our rents increased just 1.1% compared to the sector average of 14.6% (Unipol and HEPI).

Our competitive prices even earned us the title ‘Best Value for Money‘ in the Global Student Living Awards 2024. We have accommodation to suit every budget, so you’re sure to find your home from home at the right price.

On top of our competitive prices, by partnering with Howden for Students, we’ve arranged contents insurance for all our students living with us in our residence at no cost to you. So there’s one thing already ticked off your list!

Quality of rooms and halls

Your halls will be your sanctuary, so of course you want the best possible quality rooms. We’ve made substantial investments in our accommodation and also recently renovated our more established halls to ensure everything is in top condition.

We’ve even just invested £23.6m into our brand new Central Halls, which opened in 2024 to keep up with the extraordinary demand for on campus living.

Maintenance is all handled on site too, so our friendly team are close by to deal with any issues straight away keeping our accommodation in great shape all year round.  We have a dedicated team of cleaning staff who clean communal areas of accommodation at no extra cost regularly.

“The Accommodation Team helped our flat to sort a problem out quickly and effectively, they are so friendly and easy to approach about anything and the staff worked really hard checking in on our situation and how we were all feeling.”

The pride we take in our halls and investment made earned us the ‘Best Student Home’ in the ASRA Awards 2024 (and we’ve been named as finalists in the 2025 awards in April!), and we recently earned the top spot in the UK for Accommodation Uni Compare 2025.

What do other students think?

Who better to ask than the students who have lived in the accommodation before you? It’s a great idea to look for student testimonials and see what they thought of the accommodation itself and about living on campus.

Our credentials speak for themselves, being winners in the Global Student Living Awards 2024 for ‘Best Value for Money’ and ‘Best Moving in Experience’ and finalists for ‘Best University Housing’ and ‘Best Student Community’, too.

We also asked some of our residents to share their thoughts:

“I love my accommodation. My room is lovely and my bathroom is beautiful. My flatmates are all lovely and we get along really well.”

“Edge Hill has amazing accommodation. we even have a cleaner for the communal kitchen who always looks out for us. Love the location, affordability and quality.”

“The support you receive is excellent, maintenance is always on hand with any issues. Care is excellent, cleaners are lovely and maintain the building well.”

Does it accommodate your needs?

If you have additional needs, or specific requests for your living arrangements, be sure to check that your university or accommodation provider can support with this.

At Edge Hill, we want to make sure accommodation is accessible so our team are committed to working with you to ensure that as far as possible, your accommodation is appropriate to meet your requirements.

Our team can also advise on care support needs owing to a physical or sensory impairment. Or, alerters can be provided to students who have a medical condition which may require medical support. Some halls also offer adapted rooms to assist students with disabilities and/or health conditions too.

“The team helped me move into suitable accommodation, installed a cord in my room to alert First-Aiders if I have a seizure, and even gave me a tabletop oven so I can cook.”

Our Student Life team are on hand to support residents, and run a range of ice breaker activities to help you settle in and make friends on top of our wellbeing and inclusion team who can help you if you’re struggling or have any concerns about university life.

“There is so much support available for Edge Hill students. There is a fab Support Team which is based in the library who are available for all sorts of support both in person and virtually. It’s super easy to book an appointment online. Other support services include, Wellbeing and Counselling, Money Advice, Inclusion and Faith and Community.”

Location of your halls

It goes without saying our halls of residence are within a stones throw of everything on campus, including your early morning lectures, but how easy is it to get to the nearest supermarket or town?

Our halls are ideally located across our campus, and you’re never more than a 10 minute walk from your lecture even if it’s the other side of campus. You can also easily reach our Student’s Union, food outlets, gym, supermarket and on site theatre.

Not only is everything on campus within easy reach of our accommodation, the bustling town of Ormskirk is also a short walk away (or a free bus ride) and our enviable location means it is easy to access public transport to Liverpool and Manchester too.
